Ricoh MPC color copier - Changing Developer

How to print reports in MP C3000. Magenta Drum unit is leaking ink on one end of it. Should I change the magenta developer or the Magenta Drum unit.

I get a toner fill error that comes and goes. As the machine started up I noted that all the cartridges rotated "spin" but the magenta did not spin as the others, none of the cartridges turned uniformly, when I opened one corner of the front cover with my leg holding the front cover closed at the micro switch and with one hand opening the left front cover and I manage to turn the magenta I do not get an error message, I opened the back thinking there may be some motors that rotate the toner cartridge upon looking at the video I noticed the gearing on the Developing unit, how can I test if there is a fault in the code ie. 1 to 0 on to off or there is a "drier" in the system, bad connection failure in communication, burnt out servomotors is there a test code that checks each step and then says... "you tail light is not working... like my old Nissan Z I get error code CS 360 all my toners are full to 25% Loading Toner Message on Start-Up as I spin the Magenta manually as described above, I do and I do not get a code error it is random. when I managed to get it running without the code I tried touching the yellow and magenta cartridges simultaneously with my leg resting to prevent the front cover from opening as I was doing this I put colour settings and hit single-sided copy images without an image to be printed, it did 3 blank prints as soon as the magenta engaged and span on its own it threw me the code above. the cartridge is at 25% and reads empty regardless of the cartridge I load it always reads "I do not think it is a faulty chip reader message" I think it is a setting that changed as the copier was turned off several times by power shortage from the grid and it had no time to shut down correctly, my MPC5000A still running the original cartridges

SC360 is faulty TD sensor in the developer unit per service manual. The SC360 should have a dash behind it and look like this ( SC360-02). The numbers after the dash (02) for example will tell you which color unit is having a problem.

@@mrbonz00 I changed 2 developing units from my older 4501 that Ricoh would not support the K and the Y which gave me error CS363 unfortunately in Australia we get no support after 5 years canon is the same, I will follow your advice in the original 5501a unit so see the sensor un on the oscilloscope and see if I can change the faulty component or whatever is wrong if I ask for a sensor from Ricoh the price most likely cost as much as a new printer...

my c4000 machine wants to print in pink redish colors when printing in color, is this part of the drum and developer? When I go into SP mode and perform a color test pattern the results look like all colors print perfect.

+semployées doiveselavi It keeps count of how much toner has been used. The toner density sensor under the developer unit is what is asking for the toner.

+semployées doiveselavi The chip is an RFID chip to register the serial number of the cartridge and reset/start the meter reading on how much toner is used from that cartridge!...if the RFID system fails, you will get a "Toner Cartridge Not Registered" message and the system won't be able to reset the toner level amount. It will still supply toner to the developer unit and will give another error code if the toner to developer ratio gets too low.

Hi. I have a Ricoh mp c3001 that came from the factory with two drawers. When installing additional lower drawers, they do not appear on the panel. Do I have to set it on some so that the panel shows the 4 drawers? Thanks in advance for your help.

The paper deck is plug and play. If it doesn't show up it's the wrong paper deck. It should have a sticker on the top with model # BPB3100 or you should see D537.

Mr Hudson - I have a Ricoh Aficio MP C4000 copier. When I make some copies.. when they come out the toner rubs off the paper at spots. Could this be because the developer maybe empty? Will the machine tell you when the developer is empty? This also makes the machine jam up at times. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

+Marie Gardner= If the copy rubs off it will be because the fuser is not fusing the image properly. But first! Check your paper weight that you are using. Anything over 24lbs. you should select thick paper through the bypass tray. This will slow the copier down and turn the heat up by 5 degrees to fix the image on to the thicker paper. 9 times out of 10 this is the problem! This will also be the cause of your jams if it shows in C1 area (the fuser unit). Developer last 240k and will alert you only if the tech has set up the machine to do so. It will not be your problem of image not fusing.

+Hadley “Copydoc” Hudson Mr Hudson - Thanks for responding to my questions. I looked up a picture of a fuser and it was the fuser where the paper gets stuck and jams the machine. We use 24lb copy paper in our machine. We also used 20lb copy paper and the same thing happens meaning the machine jams at times and the toner rubs off at times. I'm guessing we need a new fuser to fix this problem? Thanks

+Jeff A if the fuser belt, hot roller, pressure roller are still in good condition, it may just need to just have an oil supply (silicone) roller replaced which keeps it from sticking and causing toner offset. Also, if you are doing a full bleed print all the way to the leading edge, it is also more prone to stick. Having a white space around the perimeter helps to reduce this. Also, make sure your paper is dry. Damp paper will curl, especially if the paper grain is parallel to the hot roller of the fuser. In this case, you can run the paper with grain perpendicular to the fuser rollers or grain going the direction of the paper travel! In any case, DON'T try to service the fuser yourself!...let a qualified technician do it!

In a lot of older Ricoh machines they have a oil roller however in a Ricoh MPc4000 it does not have one. Check your paper weight to see if it is over 20lbs. If so, select in User Tools,Systems Settings, Tray Paper Settings,Next, Paper Type, and try middle thick. This will turn up the heat by 5 degs. slow down the copier and allow the image to be fused better without rubbing off. These machines also are notorious for jamming in the fuser if the lead edge margin is too small. In SP mode select System SP, SP2 Drum, SP2103-1 and make sure it is set to 4.2mm.

I just love it when people leave the document processor lid open whilst making copies!...gives meaning to "job security"!--(jam in fuser--*note sarcasm!) Anyhoo, "Lipstick on a Pig", Ricoh needs to innovate and sense when there are *dark* areas of the print and reduce the density in those areas!...Hell, Kyocera is doing it on their latest MFP's!...on dark edges, it AUTOMATICALLY reduces the density (I believe on the leading edge!) to prevent jamming!...especially for copies! I know, at our place of business, we are when upgrading people from their Ricoh/Savin machines to Kyocera machines! Our call volume has been reduced quite a bit, especially for paper jamming due to cleaning feed rollers!...it's mind boggling, but true! The only time we sell Ricoh/Savin is if it is an off lease machine (...have sold a few new ones though!)!...The problem is, is that many of the machines you don't know the history and coming out of a warehouse you don't know what's been swapped on them!....most famous is we received a Ricoh machine in and the MBU board on the fax was INCORRECT!....fax wouldn't load!...held everything else up!...DOH!....now if we have that problem again, we do a quick check on HyTec repair site do see what the correct MBU board is! I also hate getting SR790 finishers off lease too!...many times the shift tray brackets will be bent to heck!....or the finisher entrance will be bent from someone dropping it!....DOH!

hello mr hudson... i have a savin 8023e model which is just like a ricoh... Im getting a paper misfeed error j011... ive cleared all the paper and gently cleaned the sensors and still the j011 error occurs... is there any way to reset this??

Janice Betts if you would please look on the serial number plate most likely on the back of the machine and give me the numbers across the top. There will be 4 numbers including you model number. I can not find a Savin 8023e in my crosss reference chart! Thanks

Depends on model. Some developers last 240k and some only 160k. A good sign is when you see toner mist (leaking) inside the front door and light or faded copies.
