Ricoh Pro C5100s 8-page saddle booklet test

The Ricoh Pro C5100s is a 65ppm production color press. This unit is equipped with the E22B Fiery controller and a 60-pg bookletmaker. Today, we're printing 10 saddle-stitched booklets on Hammermill 28# copy paper.

Hi, I have the same printer and I'm printing booklets like this but I'm using letter-sized paper so the booklets are 8.5 x 5.5. I'm using Fiery to print from my computer. Somehow the booklets aren't aligning properly (as if I grabbed the images and pulled them to the right of the page) and there's a gap of white space on the left and it's closer to the edge of the page on the left. Would you happen to know how to adjust the settings to correct the alignment?

If you can't open the front due to a paper jam, I would recommend calling service. Otherwise, you should follow the instructions on the screen.

Do you have a quick guide or a KZbin video on printing a booklet from a Fiery driver to the Ricoh? The originals are letter size, the booklet is 11x17. IF you have a guide or, better yet, a video, PLEASE post it. You would make a lot of people VERY happy... including me.

Michelle Quirmbach Michelle, I've searched for a video that walks you through the booklet wizard on the Fiery and can't find anything! I'm not in a Ricoh office today, otherwise, I'd go make a video for you. There should be a guide on the back or side of the press, but it's relatively simple. First, your local Ricoh PPS or PPSE should be able to give you additional training on these functions, but I'll do what I can. Import your job to the hold queue. If you have the Impose option, this will be simpler, but not to worry if you don't. Using Impose, right-click on the file and choose Impose, which will open a new window. Using the guide on the right of your screen, choose 'Booklet' from the drop-down menu at the top, then 11"x17" paper size and 'landscape' as the orientation. You have the option to change several other aspects of the job on this page, including paper type and location; when you finish, click 'File', then 'Save.' Save to the Hold queue and close that window. Back at the hold queue, right click your file and choose 'Properties'. Select the quantity, check that the Media is set to what you want, then check that "Impose' is selected under the 'Layout' tab. This is also where the booklet wizard is located if you don't have the Impose option. Finally, choose the Finishing tab and scroll down to 'Stapling'. Choose '2 at Center' and hit OK or Print. The booklet wizard is what I recommend for novice users. Right-click your file in the Hold queue and select 'Properties'. Follow the steps above to make sure your quantity and media are correct, then navigate to the Layout tab. Click 'Booklet Wizard' and the driver will walk you through the steps to make a booklet. When finished, follow the rest of the steps above to save and/or print your job. I hope this helps; I did it all from memory, trying not to forget any steps. Roberto Raymon Yes, the saddle-stitching is what I referred to as booklet-making. The booklet-maker is an upgrade from the standard staple/stack/collate finisher.

I have this machine. It jams all of the time. Even with the type of paper the service guy recommends. This machine is a turd.

Sleep Apnea Md Interesting point; I can't comment intelligently on the level of training you received, but I would urge you to contact your local Ricoh production print specialist for additional training. The C5100s comes with Ricoh's next-generation paper catalog, which has 99 attributes per paper type, helping you easily save, identify and reuse various paper stocks. This is great, if you know how to use it, but can be troublesome if you haven't had the proper training, or simply don't take the time to use it. If you're feeding 300gsm C2S, but the catalog thinks you're using 116gsm linen, there's a good chance it could jam. This is probably the number one complaint of my customers who have this product; it really takes just a few minutes to learn how to use the paper catalog feature. Changing this behavior will simplify your production process and save you hours of frustration, increasing your level of satisfaction with your new Ricoh production press.
