In rainy years plants like Commelina Diffusa can grow like wild, and mice eat the seed pods, so remove any ground cover of this specific plant. We had a cat that had the fur pattern of a squirrel and hawks would try to attack her, so we made a sky-net of fishing line above the fenced-in area to protect our cat, and our cat is ten years old now and is no longer a tiny kitten that looks exactly like a squirrel. Even the other squirrels thought she was also a squirrel, it was so cute.

If you have chooks, grab some of those blue hard tubs with the clamp air seal to store their food. These keep the numbers down and keeps the food fresh for ages.

We have had so many rats in the hen house lately, (due to the cold I think), I told my hubby we need to look out for pythons hiding in the coop/henhouse before we close the girls in at night, because they come around more when they can smell the rats. Well, the household was up at 2am yesterday morning, with my son removing a 7ft python trying, and failing, to kill and eat one of my chooks, instead of catching the smelly rats! The next day, our rat exterminator was behind the shed with a rat about to be devoured! Hope he stays up there till he's full! ;P Love the pythons, they are definately great rat exterminators, but I don't like it when they think my chooks are on the menu!! ;D

Fuzznutt yep I agree I don’t like using poison anymore. It can hurt pets too and it’s not worth the risk imo.

Just made a rolling log trap, hopefully I'll catch some of the culprits who are destroying our vege garden.

"Ratsak" (green blocks) has never failed!

Ratsak kills your pets as well if they get a hold of it, and anything that eats a rat that has also suffered from the poison, will also die. Not a good solution in my opinion.

My blueXkelpie also did the same when she was younger. One snap and it was over. She always made sure they where killed quickly and if still moving she would do a very quick bit to end it. She killed 17 large rats in about 30 mins one night, as the chook coop was crawling with the little buggers at the time. I hate to have to kill anything, especially the bush rats, as they are not as bad as the city rats by any means, but its them or us/or our chooks health to consider. They also love eating out tomatoes, berries, figs, vege shoots, take bites out of our nectarines and peachacots, pumkpkins and anything else they can find in our vege garden.

Hi mate I’m so glad I found your channel. A lady called Sharon told me about your channel. It’s brilliant btw and I subbed straight away. how can I contact you? Do you have a contact number or email address to buy some scions and branch’s for grafting? Sharon said you sell them. I have severe health issues and I’m trying to grow fruit trees and wanting to graft a few types onto the one tree. I have Granny Smith and pink lady but would love a few more to graft onto them. Also I am looking for many other fruit tree scions. I also am looking for avocado scions to graft onto a bacon avocado tree. Do you have a website with what trees you have available?

Sad that you are fine with people using poisons and traps but you make a blanket generalisation against cats. Ironic that you then mention tawny frogmouths and snakes. Do you know how cruelly birds like TF's and owls die due to secondary poisoning from rodenticides? And traps dont only kill introduced rats.
