I'm glad I found this channel. A lot of good info. I really like the one you did on gear ratio. From one old guy to another...cheers 🍻

Great info as usual, also been seeing the new offering from Panaracer, the Gravelking x1 in a 45mm width. Currently running the Gravelking sk 50mm. Definitely slower on the asphalt but they are great as soon as we get on the steep nasty gravel and single track we have up in our area. So that Resolute in 50mm would probably be a good choice for the Cutthroat as well 👍

I really like the X1+ in 40mm. After three months on my 25mm inner width they form a 42.xx mm tyre. I'm going for the 45mm X1+ for the winter months with more slippery surfaces.

Man I loved my Resulote skinwalls in 42 but I soon found out why they're affordable/inexpensive, those things wear quick! I think the feeling in it spinning up fast is because it hooks up better IE more grip, I noticed that with my 44mm Vittoria Mezcals those things grab and spin up like a top fuel dragster. Side note I'm done buying "gravel" tires in the 40mm range those Vittoria Mezcals will probably be my last ones, theres just not enough volume to run low enough pressures for any good amount of comfort coupled with any variation of sidewall protection/stiffness, the tread on them is soo shallow that longevity is not that great and 90% that are sold are sold at a very high premium as a "racing" tire. In all honesty I see the 40mm range of tires becoming more of a niche in the future of gravel vs beeing the defacto. If I remember correctly the gravel bike boom some 10-15 years ago probably closer to 20 started with bigger tires in the 2inch range with "Monster Cross" "Gravel Cross" "Gravel Grinder" bikes that people were putting together beeing the subject, at that time I was just getting into biking and quickly realized how boring riding on the road/pavement was so riding on the dirt was easy for me to like, not having a collection of bikes already that I could put one together it seems the market for the masses at that time for gravel bikes was in the 40mm range of tires so buying a bike was pretty much you get a bike that would fit 40mm tires and thats what you got lol there are a few brands that started with 2inch tires for their gravel bikes and they've continued their gravel lineup in the 2inch category, now it seems like it wants to come back around full circle again into the 2inch category

Very interesting 😎👍 Vulpine 45 is for the road and riding I do here in MNL 💯 50mm is better! 👍

I suppose Resolute is slower on hard surface than Vulpene. But actually any speed difference is hard to evaluate subjectively. I have 2 different bikes. Thought speed difference between them was minimal. But once I made a test. Same road, same efforts. And found that speed difference was 10% (40 km/h vs 36 km/h). Surprising outcome.

Yeah. Impressions are just that. The Vulpine S 45s I have been running are pretty good rolling and I can see the difference in coast downs. gg

The Vulpine S looks quite a bit like the Pathfinder with it's slick center section.

It does. I spent time on the Pathfinder in the 42mm size. gg
