I remember my school getting caught on fire and I had a panic attack. A kid smoked and threw it in the trash can that had a lot of paper towels that caused the fire. That was by far one of the scariest days of my life.

Oh my God, the exact same thing happened to me. Thankfully I did NOT have a panic attack, but I was very scared upon finding out (standing out in the snow, in my _gym shorts,_ I might add) that it was a real fire. I did not witness the fire, but I could still smell the smoke after we were let back in.

@@HeadsetGuy Oh wow, they didn't even let us back in and many of the students that brought their belongings (backpacks, phones, ect) didn't get them back until the next day. Thankfully the night before I didn't charge my phone so I left it at home.

I remember in elementary school, we would have a fire drill every like 2 months. Once in a while they wouldn’t even set off the alarm. They would just say over the intercom that there was a fire drill.

i remember on my birthday (i was in elementary school at the time) i was chatting with my friends when all of a sudden the fire alarms (more than one) goes off, i was shaking because we had a sub that day and never got told there would be a fire drill. after we got back in, getting ready for second recess. one of the secretary ladys came and told us we should have stayed level 0 during the fire drill. afterwards, i went back inside. afterward we worked on our project.

This may be fine for neurotypical students, but a lower-pitched, slightly softer alarm needs to be used in hallways when students with sensitive hearing/sensory disorders are involved (ASD/autism/Aspergers, PDD: Pervasive Development Disorder, PDD-NOS, Schizophrenia, Rhett Syndrome, etc.) I don't know the name of it, but there's an alarm that sounds like a low pitched, loud buzz, and it goes off to the same pattern as this.

My schools never had spectralert advance fire alarm horn strobes thankfully because I would have been scared every time that there was a fire drill because those things are so loud. I would have especially been scared of the fire alarm if these where in my Elementary School when I was younger. Me having autism and this alarm where installed in my school I would go outside before the fire alarm goes off so I wouldn’t be scared. This type of alarm is too strong for an elementary school building.
