Yeah it's one of the many reasons why I love the Batman universe. Most villains aren't evil just for the heck of it, they all have their reasons and sometimes they are really tragic which makes you like the villains. (I personally have always been a fan of villains. Batman and villains like Joker of Riddler who is my favorite just helped cement that love.)

In this show's comics, The Riddler is in Arkham and has a love interest in a female security guard. Who regularly brings Riddler's food tray, but one day she doesn't show up for work and it bothers Riddler-- So, he breaks out of Arkham to leave clues for Batman and Robin to rescues her. It turns out Joker kidnapped the guard for an exchange of ransom. Batman defeats Joker and rescues the guard. However, the next day, she quits working at Arkham and Riddler let a groan of a broken heart. The Joker next to his cell, laughing to himself. The show's comic is call "The Batman Strikes!" Don't know which issue it is. This Riddler just wants to be loved and to love.

He suffered aggression and insults from his father, colleagues, he never had a friend... he grew up frustrated and shy, and even arrogant for the way they treated him, but he had a genius that they didn't take advantage of. The Batman did a lot of things different, and most of them well, but this Batman's dynamic with the riddler just stands out as fantastic. He openly refuses to play the Riddler's games, in favor of smashing through his trials, which is something I appreciate in a Riddler story, and we definitely don't see enough of.

XD But to do it they made Freeze less sympathetic...he looks awesome and has the dreams of living in an ice kingdom, but I almost wished he still had his wife in mind since he kept the photo strip on the heist. If he had stolen all those diamonds and he came to find her, only for her to be in the midst of her health crisis or in a hospital and we see all that villainy shatter....would have been interesying.

I like the backstories in _The Batman_ (which is this show) and _Gotham_. The one in the Arkham games is just tiresome, with repeated claims of mental superiority and outright dumb riddles e.g. his take on the riddle of the sphinx in _Asylum_.

Marie Norelus She got greedy. She wanted to work with Gorman so they could make their project a success. But Edward refused to do so because he despised Gorman. So she sabotaged the project so Edward would be disgraced and relieved of his job at the university and she could take control of that project. She said so herself that she knew that Riddler was “A Psychopath, one who would ruin the chance at their project becoming a success”. Batman knew that riddler’s ex-girlfriend was the one that sabotaged the project because Gorman was a business man, not a scientist. He would never have been able to sabotage the project himself. That left only one other person with the know how to sabotage the project, Julie! What a massive, backstabbing, rotten little witch she is!!!!😡😡👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
