If you watch it there are tens of moments where he's one person and then he's a cartoon person, he is two minds of one, so all the times he was serious and not goofing off was probably how he was supposed to be playing two face and that's the version he was going for, but, the studio and the director fucked up when they fell in love with Jim Carrey. Exactly. Tommy Lee Jones made the mistake of trying to out-overact Jim Carrey, the undisputed king of over-acting. He should've gone for a lower, more dark and intense delivery, like at the end of the video, where is delightfully gruff and gangster-ish. A dark and goofy counterpoint to Carey's bright goofiness.

Say what you will about the Schumaker Batman films, Tommy Lee Jones was great in Batman Forever. I know Schumaker went a little too "Adam West" cheezy Batman, instead of the darker Batman films as popularized by Nolan and Burton. But he played it "that way" so well.
