Some of 4 Speed Allison 748 transmissions were differently programmed to eliminate the jerky shifting so that the engine always sounded angry at its extra high rpms. In addition, engines were more worn out mechanically with decreased fuel economy.

I know it, the first Orion I I rode was a Pace unit in 2004 or 2005 so was pretty cool to ride this one.
