My childhood. I was so excited when I first ride one of these on Pace in the early 1990's. That engine sound is pure bliss. ❤️ Thank you for preserving this.

I remember going on a field trip in one in kindergarten. 1979-80 school year, Burlington, VT. Other than a blue interior this is exactly how I remember it. CCTA never updated their slantback RTS-01s and kept buying RTSs to the very end with the last Novabus ones retired in the early 2010s.

Some of 4 Speed Allison 748 transmissions were differently programmed to eliminate the jerky shifting so that the engine always sounded angry at its extra high rpms. In addition, engines were more worn out mechanically with decreased fuel economy.

My city has a couple the articulated version of this bus. They aren’t used for city transport, but the tram from Schlitterbahn East to Schlitterbahn West and vice versa.

Haha yeah wish it was longer, they have a pretty short street section for running on, or at least they did during this visit. I know there are plans for future expansion but not sure what the progress is.

Can you help me? Taking bus 54 from terminal 1 Lindbergh at MSP airport can I go to the center of Saint Paul near the Xcel Center arena? Does the bus payment accept credit or debit card?

Sorry for the late reply. Yes 54 from T1/Lindbergh going to downtown St. Paul, or the 54M to Maplewood Mall will both stop by the Xcel Energy Center. Buses do not take credit/debit unfortunately. However if you want to pay a fare with a card you can go down to the light rail station at Terminal 1 and buy a ticket at a vending machine. Tickets are valid on both the trains and the buses. Alternately Metro Transit has a smartphone app available which you can purchase passes on as well. Then you just activate the pass on the phone and show it to the bus operator when boarding.
