Love what you preach Scott ! Going to try decade after my wedding. I’ve been around a 0 for a year or so and want to get better

Love this! Thanks for posting Scott!

It really does help. Placing more thought into tee shots, not trying to force birdies. Looking to minimize bogies or worse. It's made a great difference for me.

Thank U, this was very useful for mid single fig golfer trying to get to scratch!!

Thank you so much for this fantastic explanation. One question: should the width being slightly tilted especially for 3 wood because of hitting it long and left by hook spin and short right for slice spin? Or is that simply the Max length of the drive?
@scottfawcett32905 ай бұрын
This is meant solely to prepare to play an efficient practice round. Tee shots are a tilted slightly that way, but can also go too far because hooks tend to dive off the tee vs flares stay in the air a little longer...sometimes. Also, since we don't know wind and course firmness these images are just meant as a guide, not an absolute.

Unrelated to these but just a heads up that when I try to post putting combine entries, it just tells me I am unable to connect to server. I have all the entries under the "incomplete" tab but unable to actually post. If you would like me to send an email, I will. Been trying to use it more actively this year ❤❤❤

I have been a decader for over a year. Can not seem to use the dring target feature on windows, does not show anything, just tells me to use the app. App on iphone is a little more difficult to use just because at the hole distance entry window, does not show me the whole numbers. Thank you.

That's weird, I obviously did this one on a PC so it is working. Email SUPPORT@BIRDIEFIRE.COM and they'll help you.

You show the band that encompasses 100% of all shots with a given club but it sure would be cool to see a representation of the probability density function for those clubs. Highly doubt its a normal distribution for any golfer
@brendannell21935 ай бұрын
Why do you doubt that the distribution is normal?
@ryanith25 ай бұрын
@@brendannell2193 most players have a one way miss and also a "heat map" will generally show for good draw baised players long left short right peaks will form not of the same size. Both examples are far from normally distributed (equal 2 way miss and equal amount and magnitude long and short misses) samples.
@brendannell21935 ай бұрын
@@ryanith2 It’s not normally distributed short and long. But Scott defines aim direction as the center of your left / right shot distribution, so left / right is normally distributed by Scott’s definition.
@scottfawcett32905 ай бұрын
This video does not encompass 100% of shots. I throw out about 15% as we can't let outliers destroy the mean. The remaining 85% is relatively normally distributed. Yes a player might have a right miss, but they still have a fairly normally distributed 85%, typically. THAT 85% is what we are then centering over the DECADE target. So if you still have a "right miss" odds are you just aren't "aiming" correctly. I go over this in more detail in month 1 of Foundations as understanding this is hugely important to implementing strategy correctly.
@scottfawcett32905 ай бұрын
@@ryanith2 I don't view shot patterns as a one way miss. I teach players to shape the ball one way to help eliminate double crosses. Regardless there is a geometric center of any shot pattern and that is what we are centering over the DECADE target as @brendannell2193 says.

Someone who is struggling to break 100 Is course strategy or Decade needed or is impact fundamentals more important at that stage. I’m surely struggling to get under 100 around a 5800 yard Harry colt course But have broke 100 around traditional James braid links set ups
@scottfawcett32905 ай бұрын
It’s probably a little advanced for you right now. There are some great drills in the app that would help you with Putting and understanding the logic of how to best manager way around a golf course, eventually, would help you but I would probably wait until your skills improve a little bit.

Prolly short game and being able to strike the ball semi consistently will help more than intricate strategy
@mako11345 ай бұрын
@@YHWHsam I’ve a decent swing Short game is my best element against my handicap on shotscope Driving and approach are my killers And if I’m being honest I fat the ball to much 8/10 time I fat it to death And I’ve a horrible 2 way miss with my driver and only average 180 off the tee box

@@mako1134 Maybe the decade app is not designed for someone at your skill level, but the decade principles can help you tremendously with what you need to do to maximize your skills and what work you need to do to improve: - Go practice lag putting (as Scott suggested) and short putts (inside 3 or 4 feet) - goal is to reduce 3+ putting frequency - Find a simple and reliable chipping technique that allows you to get the ball on the green consistently- go see Dan Grieve’s 3 releases approach to chipping, release 1 is what you need at this point - Find an abbreviated swing that allows you hit intermediate distances (30, 40, 50 yards, …) with different clubs (SW, GW, PW, …) - Forget about the course par, consider every hole’s par to be 1 stroke above stated par (3->4, 4->5, 5->6). With this approach in mind choose a club of the tee that gives the highest chance of keeping ball in play at longest possible distance and focus on getting on the green in your par -2 shots (2 shots par 3, 3 shots par 4, 4 shots par 5) - For 50+ yards approaches, aim to the upper third of the green (e.g., for a 30 yards deep green, aim at the 20 yards). Also aim at the side of the green that keeps you away from trouble. - For

Speaking solely from personal experience, i think it’s worth it. I could barely break 100 (consistently shooting 97-99) after DECADE foundations I am consistently around 90. Improving my actual game along with this I really think I’ll be in the low 80’s next year.
