I absolutely love this song. I have the “leave them all behind” original shirt from their 1992 Oxford date. I think that was the first show of that tour and there is video of it on KZbin. Such an amazing band with sooooo many wonderful songs. Thanks RIDE for the amazing music over the years

1Sanantoniomatute I really don't think it did. This looks very early 90's. This style of video was obsolete by the mid 90's when Oasis came along.
@softlightsymphonyband4 жыл бұрын
RichleicaMP He didn’t say oasis was good, only that they came along and became the focal point and influenced a lot of bands, which they did (for good or bad). Ride was an amazing band but they didn’t write any blueprints in terms of music nor videos. I think they were far more known by the U.K. Mainstream than in the rest of the world. Here in the U.S. other than a handful of friends that share my love of the band hardly anyone I knew or met in the 90s and since has even heard of them. They are a sort of lost treasure that many people have never heard and aren’t aware of, which is sad for them because they are missing out on some great music. I find that in the states this is a common status for many great bands of the 80s and 90s that simply never crossed over into mainstream popularity or recognition.
@richardmcgowan63834 жыл бұрын
By 1994, even Ride themselves had given up making this kind of music. This was the sun setting on shoegaze. Frustratingly for me just when I was old enough to get into it ...

A “shoegaze” band that always still had a great song under all the gain and noise. Not many bands of this era can go acoustic and still hold your attention or retain their magic, but ride could and still can because the song writing and musicianship was leagues ahead of most of their peers and transcended the limits of the genre they got pigeonholed into.

I always viewed this band and this scene from the perspective of someone who was in an indie band that went to a nightclub type world and then coming back to this through the whole baggy indie crossover type thing. All in all this druggy myasma that was present at the time stretched both ways and gave a creative spurt to most involved and gave the whole shoe gaze it's lavishly druggy glaze and in some cases it's breakbeat esque rhythms and filters. vapour trail still sounds mentally large to me.

Ride stands out from the rest of the “shoegaze” bands for many reasons. For me, it’s more than their amazing musicianship(Loz the drummer my god)…it’s their underlying sense of melody. I connect with them in a way MBV and others could not. From the first track I heard by Ride(Like a Daydream) to the album no one seemed to like(Tarantula) to their new songs( like Clouds of Saint Marie) I am forever a fan and devotee to their sound.

This is an anthem.... There are few moments in my life that musically blew me away. First Time hearing Revolver, by the Beatles Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd , First Roxy Music album., The Joshua tree from U2 from those first notes on vinyl.. before we all got CD crazy.. My first album on vinyl and cd I think... then the next great moment was the Stone Roses first album then Nowhere by Ride...... is is THAT great an album to me...... It has lasted in all its glory.... through Ipods and SONY Hifi era and ADORED the same.... I LOVE this band.... Very special band like The Velvets and Never lost my love for them.. as bigger bands and fashions come and go.. RIDE are truly in my heart mind and psyche from being a gangly teenager reading poetry and philosophy books and girlfriends came and went and RIDE..... One of the eternals in my view.... I never play The Happy Mondays or Duran Duran or Pet Shop Boys or a hundred other bands..I rarely play Oasis .. but RIDE... ah.. RIDE.... what awesome album..... Can be heard from my blue BMW convertible roof down in Gloucestershire in Platinum Jubilee time and like all good music.... it cannot be loud enough!! LOVE this band... LOVE this album.......... Few bands blow me away on first hearing.. Ride did ! : ))

@jeanlundi21412 жыл бұрын
@@donsmith5385 I just started exploring shoegaze from scratch. Slowdive, MBV and Ride. MBV has some strong songs in Loveless (the one I got)....but more as unique specimen music. I started listening to this Ride album yesterday and it's much stronger....much more intricate musicianship......it's hard to argue it's a better album than Loveless. But for key moments, maybe 2 or 3 tracks from loveless will have that quirky immediate impact.
