I still remember where I heard Vapour Trail for the first time. I was completely blown away with how beautifully structured that song is. The strings, the amazing drums, the guitars. To this day I don’t think there is a song that is so perfect. You can’t change anything to make it better. Been a Ride fan ever since, I bought a bunch of their albums that day.

RIDE for me was a game changer in the early 90s growing up in Southern California. Punk had died years earlier, and I for sure wasn't gonna be into shitty Grunge! Thankfully I discovered RIDE, the stone roses, Catherine wheel and chapterhouse to save music going into the 90's. Years later right before the RIDE reformation I got the chance to meet and talk with Mark up in the high desert of Southern California. It was during his solo era playing a psychedelic festival near yucca valley. As I sat with him near the pool we discussed music, and other things about life in general. He asked me about growing up in California, and we had a really interesting conversation that lasted about an hour. At some point he asked me "So Paul - if RIDE were to reform, do you think there would be support"? A bit shocked I enthusiastically replied Yes!!! 100% huge support! I will never forget that conversation with him, and regard Mark as a very genuine person and class act. So glad they are back! Long live RIDE.

I don’t believe Steve Queralt has changed a bit since Ride’s debut album days. They’re all in their 50’s and time changes us all eventually if not sooner, but he is the least-talked about Ride member and to me THE absolute coolest. Terrific bass player for a terrific band that I’m thrilled got back together nearly a decade ago already.

OX4 isn't pronounced 'ox' '4', but 'O' 'X' '4'. OX4 is the postal code for East Oxford, where I used to see the various members of the band kicking around in the early 90s when I lived there... on buses, in bars, at the football when Oxford played at The Manor... It's a song about yearning for home.

What I get from the title of stained glass' videos being called documentaries is that they are the only videos, almost always, the only videos or one of the few videos on KZbin you can find about the smaller bands and their histories. Although they may not have super in-depth and rare interviews and cutaway scenes and extreme editing and footage of live shows and things like that that are documentary would, I really appreciate this person making these videos about the histories and backstory of these bands. I don't think there's anything wrong with calling this a documentary because it's not like there's another documentary out there about the band ride. Unless someone with a lot of money in their production budget who was also a really big fan of ride someone like say Edgar Wright decided to finance an actual film documentary about ride. I appreciate all the work that you do, and I get plenty of information from these videos that you make about my favorite band so thanks cuz I couldn't find them elsewhere.

I can honestly say we never used the term ‘shoegaze’ in Australia in the 90’s when listening to or referring to any bands like RIDE or MBV etc. I don’t think it was even a thing at that time. Just cause bands like RIDE focused on playing their instruments and didn’t jump around on stage or have those flashy, generic rock band affectations that were popular in mainstream music.
