Done 2,4 day trips to the lakes in the last couple of years. Stayed in the langdale valley, right in the middle of the lakes. Done all them roads , plus quite a few more. @@DazmatronMotorcycleTrips Hi Daz, the only tips I have for you is to give yourself plenty of time. There are so many great views and places to stop do want to give yourself plenty of time. I also agree with everyone who recommends doing it anti clockwise. 👍🏻

@DazmatronMotorcycleTrips Жыл бұрын
@@ianaquilina9139 Great thanks for that, I'll make sure I factor in not to have a deadline to keep to so I can relax & enjoy it. I did gather it would be better to go clockwise though? Teapotone & another guy recommended that way as on the West coast you'd be on the left lane looking out to sea. But I guess the reason to go anti-clockwise is that the trip can end on a high on the west coast as opposed to the not so pretty east coast & that boring road that goes south? 🤔

OMG 😱 I can imagine that moment as we have all come across sheep wondering around at the side of the road in Wales. I’ve done hardnotts in the car and on my old st1100 yes is challenging in places but it’s not that hard. Every one misses a great road biker fell. If you come from little langdale side you turn left instead of crossing the bridge. At the far end of biker fell there are some challenging roads before you hit the main road again. But lovely views on a bike going across.

Re the B&B, it was just the otherside of the Alston & the Hartside Pass. As u seen in the vid. So not far from Penrith where I started the loop. The b&b was ok, the room although I was the only one there is shared, so a single bed & a bunkbed. If I went again I'd perhaps look at stopping in Alston itself as there's all the local shops & pubs in walking distance.

Sorry Lochwood, just seen this extra question re the B&B, there was no heating just a plug in heater in the lounge bit. So if it's cold, be prepared for that as it's quite exposed on a hillside. But the kitchen was big with a double gas cooker, beds were a bunk bed and a single. the host was very nice & asked if i needed any bits of food whilst i was there. All in all cheap & cheerful, only needed it for that as most the time i was enjoying the passes :)

Obviously it's going to depend ones riding experiences, I've been back riding the GS1250 3 years now, the whole route is relatively easy I'd say all except for the Hardknott, but even that I'd say wasn't that bad. Someone mentioned to me it was harder anti-clockwise so I went back & did the route that way but I didn't fine the Hardknott any more difficult. There are just a couple of tight hairpin bends on a steep gradient 33% & it's difficult to see if any vehicles are coming down from the opposite direction. Once you ascend that section of the Hard knott I stopped & paused at the beginning of that steep section. Have a good look. Afterwards I thought it wasn't at all that bad? Let me know how you get on. Thanks for your comments Andrew its appreciated 🙏. What a place to snap your clutch cable, I bet the air was blue!! Another subscriber said a camper van blew its engine & chucked a load of oil over the Hardknott whilst he was going up, it was raining too! He went for it still & made it. I think I would have preferred your scenario 🤔 hope the gears didn't take too much of a hammering. Oh sorry about the pronounceation, typical southerner eh 😆

FYI Sadly the first edition only has the Ambleside Loop though you've given me plenty to go on. Not sure what a mukka is though.

Hiya. Loved this video, and was surprised that there were so many passes in one smallish area! I'll ping you an email, as I'd appreciate having the Gpx file for this trip. I'm from Isle of Man, and your loop would make a great excuse for a weekend trip :)

Hi Jeremy, thanks for your comment, yes it was so good I'm going to do it again this year but reverse loop this time as someone suggested doing that. Id especially like to do the 'Hard Knott' the opposite way. I'll look out for your email & forward the gpx 👍

Hi Nick, I use 3 camera's. 1. Dj Pocket 2 with a 128gb micro card. 2. GoPro 8 Black with a 128gb micro card. 3. GoPro 9 Black 128gb Extreme Pro card. Are you embarking on recording stuff yourself? The kit is all very costly then a bit of a pain to edit but worth it at the point of post (if it's good of course ; & on that, I'm still learning as you may tell from my vid's lol).

Great video.. First time doing Hardknott Pass last year. I would say west to east would harder than the way you did it!!! Definitely a tick on the must do list.
