@@ianaquilina9139 Great thanks for that, I'll make sure I factor in not to have a deadline to keep to so I can relax & enjoy it. I did gather it would be better to go clockwise though? Teapotone & another guy recommended that way as on the West coast you'd be on the left lane looking out to sea. But I guess the reason to go anti-clockwise is that the trip can end on a high on the west coast as opposed to the not so pretty east coast & that boring road that goes south? 🤔

I’ve done hardnotts in the car and on my old st1100 yes is challenging in places but it’s not that hard. Every one misses a great road biker fell. If you come from little langdale side you turn left instead of crossing the bridge. At the far end of biker fell there are some challenging roads before you hit the main road again. Re the B&B, it was just the otherside of the Alston & the Hartside Pass. As u seen in the vid. So not far from Penrith where I started the loop. The b&b was ok, the room although I was the only one there is shared, so a single bed & a bunkbed. If I went again I'd perhaps look at stopping in Alston itself as there's all the local shops & pubs in walking distance.
@DazmatronMotorcycleTrips Жыл бұрын
Sorry Lochwood, just seen this extra question re the B&B, there was no heating just a plug in heater in the lounge bit. So if it's cold, be prepared for that as it's quite exposed on a hillside. But the kitchen was big with a double gas cooker, beds were a bunk bed and a single. the host was very nice & asked if i needed any bits of food whilst i was there. All in all cheap & cheerful, only needed it for that as most the time i was enjoying the passes :)

Someone mentioned to me it was harder anti-clockwise so I went back & did the route that way but I didn't fine the Hardknott any more difficult. There are just a couple of tight hairpin bends on a steep gradient 33% & it's difficult to see if any vehicles are coming down from the opposite direction.
