From my job (see around 9:44) I can hear the constant horn blowing of the Amtrak trains when you mention going through the Bronx. They are starting to do prep work to build stations for the Metro North Railroad so there are crews and equipment on and near the tracks almost very day. The future site of the (new) Morris Park Metro North Station can be seen around 9:52. At 9:20 you can see the OLD long-defunct Morris Park Station from almost 100 years ago. At around 10:49 is the future site of the Co-Op City (Pelham Bay) railroad station.

Your mention of the original Route 128 station brought back lots of memories. Grew up in a Boston suburb in the 1950s and was at that station many times meeting aunts from NY and also my father returning on a business trip. The station did look like a little depot,. You would exit from Route 128 about 1/2 mile north of the tracks and the station was in the middle of absolutely nothing, just undeveloped fields. The platforms were ground level and you simply walked across them to meet the northbound passengers. The amount of development is amazing.

Great video. Thank you for sharing it. I have taken the Acela many times over the years - Boston to Washington DC and return. On occasion I also took trips from Boston to NYC and return. Amtrak Regional and Acela great way to travel in the Northeast Corridor - forget flying and driving. I'm originally from Beverly, Massachusetts. I worked on Capitol Hill in Washington DC ( now retired ) for many years.

Watching your video when you said something about a viaduct reminded me of this built-up land section in New Jersey. Massive built-up land I drove through a tunnel on Rt. 206 that seemed like man-made. IDK for sure if the land was entirely built up by man, but when following the obvious change in the land to the West (on Google Maps Satellite), we come to the Paulinskill Viaduct, once the largest concrete reinforced structure in the world. Maybe someday the line will be restored with new tracks and restoration, rather than a Rails-to-Trails conversion.

02:06:07 the current proposed plan is to extend shore line east from new london to westerly, which would bring back groton station, and add another station in stonington. mbta could also easily extend to kingston. that would shorten the gap quite a bit!

Rode this many times but not Acela. Mostly NH to GCT but also NH to Penn Station when going south of NYC. Line needs much work to get it up to speed, replacing the old bridges, tracks and interlocks. Sort of a shame to see the cars on the highway blitzing the train. Supposed big project to fix this. They want to shear 15 minutes off the time from NH to NYC. You like to sit on the side of the train I do, then you see both views coming and going. Also need to fix Hartford to Springfield line which is in sad shape.
