I can’t believe local trains were running on different tracks. You did a nice job of recording Metro North Railroad and Amtrak trains. I love the M7A’s, M3A’s, Diesels, and Amtraks.😅

Indeed, the Silverliner 4's are trash. What is your take on the possible extension of the BSL years down the road? Would be a great video if you made one on it. Also, your regional rail videos are 🔥

A couple of comments... 1. Your forgot to mention when at Union Turnpike Station that it used to have an entrance off Union Tpke both EB and WB that was outside the Jackie Robinson fka Interboro Parkway.. As a kid, I would sometimes get dropped off there by my dad driving into his business to ride the subway into Manhattan for things.. Same also as a pickup at night when I could get picked up as he came out from East NY where the business was.. 2. Also did you miss E train stop at 49th and 8th where the old MSG was?? I always found it interesting that they had signage for years after the current MSG opened there after the old building was knocked down.

I was running short on time and I was cold and hungry so I skipped over it. I didn’t know about the union Turnpike exits. It’s hard to get everything.

Thanks for another great video. Interesting about the Alstom and Siemens sounds. I've been wondering especially about the "stepped" pitch change. Is this the motors or some ancillary equipment feeding them? That screeching is bad enough outside but sounds intolerable in the subway. The old cars are so quiet in comparison. How can a "newer and better" design that makes such a racket be acceptable? Interesting topic and video!

I do have an audience of baby boomers. It is possible that some of the younger generation might get curious about people of the past from my videos and educate themselves, but I don’t expect that will happen with all of them. Evoking a little bit of knowledge is better than evoking none at all, and it doesn’t necessarily have to pertain to railroads.

As a musician, I love the jumps up a 7th from G to F, then again up to E, then a 2nd to F#, then back to E on the Alstom traction motors.
They need to use the accordion cards since it's so much going on in the train system on the c train The trains where you can go all the way through without opening a door so you could see in the next car that would be safer to put more of those on there you wouldn't have sick individuals doing things as much

Recently, most of the R160s have been taken out of service due to flat wheels, so for now, the G has SMEEs again cause the E,F, and R are using the 160s from it. When it comes to the R179s, the E has 2 sets, and the F and M have one set. All to test CBTC on the 179s.

Thanks for a very interesting video! I had zero knowledge of these two lines. I lived near and commuted by two different electrified NJT lines. The idea of commuting south to New York seems like such a foreign concept to me. Plus riding behind (or in front of) Diesel power seems strange too. I got a big grin about Officer Joe Bolton on Channel 11 but as a little kid the mention of Clifton on the show would have gone right over my head. Thanks again!

Thanks for the great ride! I especially enjoyed the Bergen County section, I saw a lot of things I recognized and quite a few things I didn't. There's been quite a few changes since I moved south inn 1987. But thank goodness Bagelicious is still in Ridgewood by the old Erie station complex! A great place for a hot coffee and a snack on a cold day! Sure, I remember Officer Joe Bolton! His theme song too, "The Whistler And His Dog." Thanks again! Two hours well-spent!

The connector between the former Erie main line in Paterson and the former Lackawanna through Clifton and Passaic was the old Erie Newark Branch. This line was upgraded for the purpose between these two points. But it continued to host a few commuter trains from Paterson all the way to Newark and Hoboken until 1966.

If I may ask, what sort of equipment was on that train? I know you said there was a GP-40 pushing, but what cars did NJT use? I noticed there were automated announcements on this line, and I know that's something NJT has notoriously had issues with. While this is Metro North West of Hudson, it's NJT equipment, NJT announcements, etc, hense all the NJT references.

@@3985uprr Cool. I know those can be hit or miss with announcements and have been for years, especially the times I rode NJT years ago. Glad to hear them working on a Comet V. Good to explore this line. I still haven't ridden on most of NJ Transit and any of the MN West of Hudson lines myself.
