Nice one Richard, I’ve seen a few videos on the new V4 Multistrada, and the gps app has been criticised. Well done for finding a work around, for sharing routes. 👍

Thanks Paul. I reached out to Sygic and told them they'd dropped the ball and when would they fix it with a GPX import option. They said they don't support it, but owners can plan their own routes for themselves on their web site; which naturally doesn't solve the GPX sharing problem. I was actually very surprised to find that the app MyRoute-App already had the plug-in to port to Sygic as standard. Having a lifetime membership with them was a real bonus. Not that I need Sygic access personally (unless I buy a Multi V4, or Honda - I believe it's a CarPlay supported app). But as you know, I like to help others out whenever I can. And this seems a good workaround on initial face-value, despite the 48 waypoints restriction

Well found solution. I experimented with Kurviger (Kurviger.de), it has an export function for Sygic (and obviously for other common file types, like GPX, ITN and so fort. It can also import GPX). You can run kurviger on your phone and "export" internally to Sygic, or on your computer, you phone can scan the QR code. Anyway, your solution looks a lot easier. Have to try it when I get my Multistrada.

Thanks so much for sharing Wolfgang. It may well help anyone else using Kurviger. It's really very easy with MyRoute-app. And it's my favorite online planner, so a good option, as is your suggestion; thanks for posting. My first ride impressions, will be live tomorrow - to see if your Multi order has been worthwhile or not! 😀

You're welcome. Make sure you don't accidentally close the Ducati Connect app and keep it as the front app and then you should be okay. I ll probably do a proper e2e video on this when I get my own Multi, hopefully later next month. It's a really clear TFT, especially in bright sunshine.

Brilliant video Richard, however the app seems to be different to what is shown in your video at 4m.29sec, then doesn't give me navigation-app options! Do you know what I could be doing wrong? I do have the Gold account and got all the correct apps loaded on my phone. Thank you in advance of any help 👌

The video is only 4.29? If you mean MRA - what is it you are see, and what is it you want to see? Note: the MRA phone app export is no longer supported. MRA tell me it's a problem at Sygic's end. I gave up on Sygic and moved to a Garmin Zumo XT which I used on a Tiger 1200, another MTS V4, and now an R1300GS. It works perfectly with MRA files - but not Zumo XT"2" does not. I have two friends with XT2s who have many problems with imported GPX files. MRA is brilliant for route planning. But my advise would be buy aa Garmin Zumo "XT" or if you don't want to spend that much get a Beeline Moto. Both work well using Google maps (easiest on the eyes) as the planning map in MRA website. I hop that helps!

@@jh449612 MRA revised the phone app and launched a newer all-in-one app too. The website has always been great for route planning, but the phone app pretty poor in terms of reliable route guidance. A friend has the latest version of the wall in one (I forget what they call that) and claims it is pretty reliable. However hee still rates his Beeline higher for accuracy, and the Beeline app is the easiest route-planning app (I've tested several) to plan an actual route on. The only negative with the Beeline is auto re-routing does not work for imported GPX, only for routes physically planned within the app itself. If you want a large map and voice commands a Zumo XT is the way, of you just want to know when to turn with minimal distraction then a Beeline is hard to beat. It's disappointing that Ducati dropped the ball on such an expensive bike. But I spent hours talking to top people in Ducati about it - one even said Claudio knew who I was - and that dog will not hunt. For the next major MTS update expect them offer CarPlay or switch supplier.

Thank you for this video it was extremely helpful and I used these tips for my first big ride on my new V4S! I was wondering, if you don't mind asking your friend I had major problems with the music controls between the bike and my airpods pro's (paired with my iphone) while riding. When riding the phone would play a single song then pause the music and I had no way of re-starting it while moving. I also noticed the music playback controls disappear as well as all ability to select new playlists or songs while moving, you are forced to come to a stop which is ludicrous. Once stopped I was able to click play and resume/start a new song on the bike again without ever touching the phone. There is also no volume control near as I can tell. I'm curious if your friend has noticed this as well? Another oddity I found is that when the iphone is connected to the bike via bluetooth the default audio devices becomes the motorcycle, not the bluetooth headphones. I suspect this may be part of the problem but I'm not sure. Sadly this problem has made all of the ducati connect features worthless to me and I'm back to using my phone on a phone mount on the bars with not connection to the bike. For those wondering about waypoints being missed while riding - I experienced this as well as the map on the sygic app not agreeing with maps.sygic.com where I planned my route from. While riding the app constantly attempted to re-route me in the most ludicrous ways when I refused to follow it's path and wasn't smart enough to just carry on to the next waypoint. I fought with the app for 3 hours on my ride yesterday and finally gave up and went back to apple maps voice guidance only through my headphones and it was night and day better. The sygic app is truly horrifically bad here. I'm crossing my fingers that because the bike leverages bosch myspin, and there are already many much better bosch myspin compatible apps that Ducati will allow others to work in the future however that seems unlikely.

I will ask him to check and respond. The AirPods may be down to them moving inside your helmet. If the button on the outside is depressed by the liner of your helmet or they slightly displace from your ear canal, that will pause the music - in the exact same way, that if you are watching a KZbin video on a Mac while listening through AirPods and you take one out of your ear, the video will automatically pause. I use my AirPod pros every day and love them. But I have tried them a couple of years ago, and I don't think they're suitable for use on a motorcycle, particularly as they are too quiet at speed, are uncomfortable, and don't protect your ears like custom earplugs. Ten of my friends and I use Cardo PackTalk Bold intercoms, which I simply cannot recommend highly enough. Jerry has his phone paired to both the PackTalk and the TFT ( PackTalk not paired to the TFT). When we tested this off the bike, using the TFT only, he could switch between playlists and songs, pause and skip tracks, etc - all ok. This did not create any problems with Siri either, so he could ask her to do whatever he liked. If waypoints are problematic using the Sygic website map, that will almost certainly be down to the exact placement of each waypoint. You must always zoom in '100%' on 'every' waypoint, ensuring that they are not too close to junctions, not on the wrong side of the road (if separate lanes going in opposite directions) and as central as possible within the road - accuracy is fundamentally key. There is an option in the TFT (within Sygic) to skip the current waypoint. It should then continue to the next. Jerry has not tried that yet (cold and wet here). IMPO they should have gone with Apple CarPlay as Honda have. But they haven't, so there's a learning curve for everyone. I'm sure most of this will be frustrating nuances to work through. But once you have, it should be workable. BMW's Connected app is not perfect either and they've had that for years! Worst-case scenario I recommend buying a Beeline Moto; which is what I use as a backup on all rides. Let me know how you get on after your next test!

Hi! Just one question, to share the route from MRA to sygic the silver plan is enough or i need the gold one?
@RichDunn
@RichDunn 2 жыл бұрын
I have a Gold Lifetime MRA license, but I don't think the feature to export from MRA into Sygic is still available in the latest version of the apps. And when it was, it didn't work for routes with lots of waypoints anyway (it would incorrectly sequence them). I spent hours talking to Ducati and Sygic about this, but never got any positive outcome. Eventually, I gave up and bought a Garmin Zumo XT and Iconic mount - both excellent. I also run a Beeline device (excellent) as a backup too. If you just want to go direct to a destination Waze cannot be beaten, and so I also mount my iPhone on an anti-vibration wireless quad-lock charger too.

@@RichDunn hi thank you for the information! Actually with Sygic I’m travelling quite well the “only” problem is of course the overheat of the phone sometimes. Good evening. Am I correct that is doesn’t work to export from MRA to Sygic. You’ve got to buy the navigation option in the app.?

MRA told me that Sygic stopped supporting direct export from the MRA app into the Sygic app - so the feature is no longer available, period. I know several people who bought Multistrada's - every one of them quickly gave up on Sygic and either bought a Garmin Zumo XT (XT is better/more reliable than XT2 IMPE), or a Beeline Moto (FYI: new model released this month).

Hi Richard, thanks very much for this. My V4S arrives next week so I thought I’d get everything ready. I also have MyRoute gold and Sygic. I have followed your video exactly but when, in the final stage, I click on “Sygic (48 way points)” my phone just opens the Sygic app and doesn’t copy in the route. Any thoughts on what I’m doing wrong?
@RichDunn
@RichDunn 3 жыл бұрын
It's probably a sequence thing (I don't have my bike yet). When I've done it on Jerry's bike (the one in the video), we've had to open Ducati Connect and gain access to the Connect options, and (critically it seems) invoke the Navigation option on the TFT. Then load MRA, use the arrow/tracking, click on Sygic 48 points. And then it auto-invokes Sygic on your phone. And then it should prompt you on the TFT to start the new route. Then make sure the Ducati Connect app is the front (current) shown app on your phone (not sure why this important, but it is). If your phone loses the Ducati Connected connection at any point, you must make it the current (top/front) app on your phone. If that isn't working, ensure you have Spin my Bosch toggled on in settings - it won't work at all without that. Let me know if that works? Additionally, note my response to Tjerk below re: missed waypoints.

@RichDunn

There is an option on the TFT to skip a waypoint as you are riding along. So that shouldn't be a problem. The bike is owned by a friend, so I've asked him to test out the navigation and report back to me with any issue. I'm disappointed that Ducati didn't insist GPX import was included when they engaged Sygic as their navigation partner. But at least we have a work-around for now.

How to skip a routepoint when you mis one?
@RichDunn
@RichDunn 3 жыл бұрын
Good question. This seems to be a problem for Sygic to handle with imported GPX files. It always wants you to go back to the missed waypoint, even if you get back on the correct route and pass the next waypoint in the imported GPX route. I don't know if the premium (paid) version of Sygic handles recalculation, or not, as I don't have my Multistrada personal yet. But it is a real pain because if you reload the route during the day, it wants to take you back to the very first waypoint of the day, which is useless. The owner of the bike in the video has given up and ordered a Beeline Moto device! I must admit I use my own Beeline more than any other GPS device. It's basic, but just works. Sorry I couldn't help more (yet) on this question!
