Your comment concerning a BDR-X in Colorado is an interesting one. I'm in Reno and I can invision several BDR-X's spinning off the NorCal BDR, linking to the main route or not. I imagine things will evolve that way over time. THe Lost Coast in NorCal is a great candidate for an X. I looked at the NV BDR and realized they entirenly missed the Ruby Mountains, that's a fantastic candidate for a X. Maybe using the BDR main route the planners can go back and create several X routes all over the western states. Maybe the Ohwyee River is another great candidate, perhaps linking thru Hells Canyon. I'm thinking something like 1 or 2 day routes not unlike the Butler ADV maps, more of a contained route. You got me thinking. Great videos, appreciate your solo adventures, details and descriptions. I'm 72, new to ADV bikes but ridden mostly dirt all my life, did some desert racing 500 2tsin my 40's, and am seriously considering some solo moto camping rides, starting with X style loops through NorCal and northern Nevada. Keep up the good work.

I agree that the BDR film doesn’t seem representative of the Route experience one should expect. Nice to have your ride perspective. Looks beautiful.

I really enjoy your videos and I thank you for all your efforts. That said….If I had one wish, it would be for an option on KZbin to mute background music 😉. Stay safe out there🤞

Man I was hoping to see you do the 2nd expert section around obsidian dome, the whoops are gigantic. Brother-in-law and I did the bdr from mammoth to Lee vining as a day trip. That was the best section.

@tbone11x wasn't worth the risk solo. Mt Patterson would have been fun to try too.

Those whoops by obsidian are not fun even on a small bike. That part of the trails west of 395 are a throughfare that I try to avoid now up there. There's better roads just across the highway to get through that stretch, and some singletrack as well. Kennedy was closed for about 2-3 months this year so I was up there a lot and explored this year. I also did the norcal BDR this year but finished in mammoth so did it in reverse. I skipped the last bit since my ride buddy was going back to santa cruz so interested in your vid since I haven't seen the first part going north. Mammoth is cool but really dry dusty and low traction, especially more so when the side by sides hit it.

When did you run this route? We did it in late June / early July. Didn’t see any snow.

@@bikegiant1376 you were probably a week or two behind me.

What mic are you using with the GoPro? Mine keeps popping and cracking.
