Rode the same train out of Jamaica as I did the day before only it was far less crowded and was a local to Grand Central. Far less people there as well. Wanted to see how connecting to the Lex Subway was. About 10 minutes from train to train but I wasn’t rushing. Still exhilarating to be able to ride the LIRR to Grand Central. (At 15:17 I mention about the arrow on the signal west of Woodside. The arrow only shows when the train is routed to Grand Central and it’s pointer straight)

Thank you for this very impressive video. Whilst it is quite a walk from the new LIRR platforms to the Subway lines, it is clearly marked, and completely undercover ! Grand Central Terminal has been enhanced yet further ! Truly wonderful.

I kind of expect it to be clearly marked. Was missing clearly marked paths at some other stations ...

Good video and thanks for the ride in! Will give it a try out soon…our video host sounds a bit like Howie Rose (Mets radio voice) and I say it in a complimentary way.😄

Rode from Grand Central to Jamaica-and back again-just yesterday. Have to admit, it was a bit depressing seeing so few people; but, hopefully, that will change come February 27 when full service begins.

Awesome that you got to be on the first train! Great footage! Do you happen to have a track map of the new tunnels? trying to understand the interlockings just outside of Grand Central.

Yes. After Plaza you come to GCT6. Then GCT5 which sorts lower and upper levels. GCT3 is east end upper level, GCT1 is west end upper level. GCT4 is east end lower level and GCT2 is west end lower level.

I doubt that it’s going to be built as a Shuttle. I’m sure the Railroad will do everything in their power to get riders to go to Grand Central even if it results in them offering reduced fares to get business. It’s only been a few days give it time. Rome wasn’t built in a day and either was Grand Central.

They all say that, especially your mans who called it many years ago: The Metro-North operates much better than certain LIRR trains (LOL!) and BTW, for a better experience into and out of Grand Central, just take the (7) Train, for real...LOL! Especially coming from Grand Central on the LIRR...the scenery is dull, not to mention hideous and a bit more expensive...it's not worth it unless you really need it...'nuff said...'til next time, peace!
