This is ridiculous. When 2 male skateboarders get interviewed they do not get asked what it feels like to have their balls slap against their thighs while they skate, nor are they asked if they've kissed each other, nor do people suggest in the comments that they do a porno together... When will female skateboarders get the RESPECT they deserve? These two women are total badasses and sometimes I'm ashamed to love skateboarding because of the totally ignorant, sexist demographic involved

+natalie día I get what you are saying, but you have to understand that they are a minority. You don't see people like these two badasses everyday, so people are just curious about many things and have a lot of questions... You can ask those questions and remain respectful, without treating them like circus freaks. But maybe they crossed that line focusing too much on the gay stuff, I don't know... I think that they only wanted to listen to their point of view, it's not wrong, and they didn't really give them reasons to get offended. Why would they censor themselves if they are curious about things? There is nothing wrong with that.

Females Snowboarders have definitely received more respect and moved up in the professional world. I think it's because there are more females who ride snowboards so of course... more females go pro. So the solution may be getting more girls to ride skateboards? I wish the solution could be that teenage boys would GROW up and get their misogynist heads out of their asses but that might take a while.

As a gay skateboarder I would love to see an openly gay pro or am out there... I doubt many people even know of Tim Von Werne from back in the day. We need a role model to change some attitudes, at the moment a lot of the guys I skate with don't know I'm gay, some do, but for me it isn't anything other than a romantic and physical attraction. It doesn't define my life so I have no reason to tell them, if they asked I certainly wouldn't hide it. But I'm not camp so I doubt they ever would guess.

Maybe I'm totally wrong about this (I hope not) but I don't think skateboarders would have problems with an open gay pro. But I do think they might not buy the produce of that pro (boards and gear). I wonder if that's maybe the thing the gay pro's are worried about the most, losing the revenue of the gear and then losing sponsorship.

Wait... Nate Sherwood runs a shop in my town and told us a story of how Vanessa tried to get with him (as in almost raped him) at some big skate competition. I think it was at Slam City Jam, and a bunch of skaters were at a hotel where it happened. He said he had to almost fight her off and was extremely weirded out because he thought she was into females. Now I'm really confused.
