Thank you!! Here in Washington State, just went for a demo ride yesterday. We only get black, but 2019 will be red. I found the mirrors not wide enough and some vibrations at motorway speeds. The side stand seems to be an after thought but everything else you described was spot on how I felt about the CB1000R. I stayed in Standard Mode on my ride. The final out the door price here is $15,400 out of the door after freight, prep, doc fees, sales tax, license and registration. I think I am going for it, such a nice machine with no competition in a mix of retro and modern tech. It was my first experience with throttle by wire and a single sided swing arm. We also have no Plus Option available. Cheers!!

I have had my CB1000R now for 1 week and have been able to use it on all types of roads in both rain and standard modes. Travelling at 70 mph (approx. 4,600 revs)on the motorway was comfortable and the ride was compliant suggesting light/ medium touring would be good to do, standard mode offered greater responsiveness than rain with delivery in both smooth and rewarding accompanied by a nice exhaust note(standard can). Obviously I am still running the engine in so do not know yet what the added value will be once revs go above 5,500 when the exhaust note and engine power changes but this is to come. You are right in stating that this bike is a gem. Interesting note is that mpg is continuing to increase and my bike is now registering 41mpg and is going up.

Great review I’ve had mine 6 months now done 5000 miles it’s a brilliant bike the quick shifter is the best I’ve used including the latest BMW’s my average U.K. MPG is 53 MPG with a low 48 and a high of 56 brim to brim I put some sw moteck mirror extensions on mine which lift the mirrors up and out by about 1 inch (25 mm) now there perfect if it had a cruise control it would be perfect

Honda makes t best riding machines, and every time they release a new model they somehow manage to improve it a little bit more Any honda model you test ride for the first time feels like an old friend that knows all your little quirky stuff, lets u take t lead, and helps u to become a better rider, once u ride a Honda u know what quality machines feel like😎

I'd like to add a small fairing like the Kawasaki 900R, put on a decent horn a less bulky looking exhaust. Like the matt colour. Longer mirrors. Tyre grip?

Honda indeed not only makes the smoothest 4 cilinders (especially the CB1300, the 1100 air cooled engines are great too), but technically always the very best. I wish the gear box of my BMW’s were that good. Sometimes they say Honda’s are boring, I never agreed with that. Taste is a personal thing though, I don’t like the low plate holders.

You're supposed to take them off the moment you ride it home and then add a tiny straight through slip on exhaust. It's got the cat still so you shouldn't have to re-tune and it won't be too loud.

I hate that this bike is so good yet has no cruise control at its price point I’ve got $14k burning a hole in my pocket but I know I I buy the 2021 black edition next years model will have cruise control so I’m going to ride my CB650R for a while longer and if it doesn’t have cruise control by 2022 model year I’ll be buying the ugly old MT10 because it actually has cruise control and that is something I want for the money because I’m commute on the highway daily on my bike and I’ve gotten tickets for doing 10mph and 12mph over so I really want cruise control on my next bike so I can just focus on what’s going on around me and not have to worry about speeding up on accident.

It doesn't look good to me at all that exhaust is hideous to my eyes , Honda seem to have lost their way over the last 15 years with the bikes they produce, only the Africa Twin and Fireblade models seem to compare to other manufacturers offerings . I don't doubt the build quality of their motorcycles for one moment but desireabilty not for me I'm afraid.

I appears to me that Honda have been looking through the Ducati X Diavel sales brochure with covetous eyes... attempted to copy it by rummaging through various parts bins. The Kawasaki 900 RS looks much prettier to my eyes and a good bit cheaper. As Toby replied to my original comment "each to their own". I suppose they will sell a few in the immediate future but wouldn't be surprised if they are traded in next year when the novelty wears off .
