I just bought a pair of ProMag 18 round magazines for my Glock 44. They now include a ring with a thumb tab to make it easy to load the magazine to full capacity.
@reddaniels46343 жыл бұрын
I bought 2 of these. Had issues at first but keeping the mags loaded to full capacity for 2 weeks really helped loosen the spring and make them reliable

That spring is no joke. I was loading mine and just holding it down the thing partially removed part of my thumb nail.

With the glock mags always hold them upside down .. pull assist tabs and gently shake til all rounds angle to match feed lips then let tabs go.. it works
@RidersRange2 жыл бұрын
That may work, but one shouldn't have to go to that length to get a gun and mag to work properly. Thanks for watching.

Could you take the spring out of the Glock and replace it into the ProMag?
@KartezCostello-n6o8 күн бұрын
If you change any gun spring you’ll most likely have to change the base plate as well so if anything put the pro mag spring in the Glock mag

Glock: It fires a .40 so we'll call it the 22. We have a .22 it's called the 44. We also have a .45 and that's the 21 but to avoid any confusion the 10mm is the 20 and the 9mm is the 19.. Glock makes up their model numbers while playing bingo on crack...

ProMag looks nice! Typically when I’m just plinking with 22lr, I try to shoot accurately at longer ranges. I personally don’t have a problem with the 10 round Glock magazines because I usually take my time at the range anyway. Just like I do with my Ruger Wrangler. Nice video!

Joe_K, I had the occasional failure to feed from the Pro Mags even when downloaded to 10 rounds. However, they weren't any more or less frequent than fully loaded, though my experimenting with them has been limited.

Would this promag 18 rounder work in a Glock 17 with a 22LR conversion kit or is the magazine too short? Is it the same dimensions length wise as a Glock 19 / Glock 44 magazine? I know they make a promag 25 round Glock 44 mag, that works in the Glock 17 with conversion kit, the magazine just sticks out like an extended one.
@johnrobb32754 жыл бұрын
Thanks for all this demo. I'm a bit confused though on the mags. In my head I'm trying to weed out critique of the gun and critique of ammunition. I'm simply trying to get a sense of the ProMag. Specifically, aside from capacity and loading difficulty, how did it compare to the Glock magazine in feeding/firing operation. Better, worse, about the same, hard to tell?
@RidersRange4 жыл бұрын
John, thanks for watching and for commenting. I need to spend more time on the range with the ProMags in the G44, but so far, they seem to be just about as reliable as the Glock mags. I have seen reviews that say they run better once "broken in", but I've seen other reviews that have problems with one or more mags. It looks like the ProMags are hit or miss, but I am satisfied with their reliability so far.
@scottmorgan10164 жыл бұрын
My TX has been perfect so far. Just got a mag extension for it from Galloway Precision. It's a plus 3 to make it 19 but so far I get 20 in them. But I am not dogging the G44 I will get one of them also. Hope you get the pro mag working that will be a win win if you do.
@RidersRange4 жыл бұрын
Scott, after my experience with the TX22, if I actually owned one, that would be my go-to and the G44 would sit in the safe.
@MattGoodfellow3 жыл бұрын
Does the promag suffer from the same sensitivity to loading problems, like the stock glock 44 mags? Does this resolve it? I only get failures with the G44 if I don't turn the mag upside down and shake it. For stiff springs, try storing it fully loaded for a while. It will break the springs in faster.
@RidersRange3 жыл бұрын
Matt, thanks for watching and commenting. I haven't found the loading technique to be an issue with the Pro Mags. As to breaking in the mag spring, just keeping it loaded doesn't do much, as a spring only "breaks in" when it is exercised. That means load, shoot, repeat. 😎

@@Jeffisright I sold my Glock 44 shortly after they came out. I recently bought another one after hearing of the improved reliability & it is absolutely true. I ran 500 rounds of really old Federal Bulk with no issues. That was after running a couple boxes of Stingers, 2 sleeves of Mini-Mags & 2 boxes of Aguila Super Extra. TX-22 & Sig P-250 both commonly have failures with that ammo ( those 2 were previously my best .22s). I would say my Glock 44 has surpassed my TX-22 as my best .22LR semi auto. It was also only ~$50 more than the Taurus is currently on offer for.

It really makes you wonder sometimes if manufacturers (like Glock & Pro Mag) have anyone from outside the design team look at their creations before they run with it? Glock - 10 rounds. Pro Mag - too small assist buttons and too strong a spring. Mostly brilliant people then they swing and a miss on some basic stuff.
