Taylor visits Ridge in his office after having a visit from Brooke and wants reassurance. Ridge discusses his surprise visit from Caroline's twin sister Karen.
Storyline background: this scene takes place on the same day Ridge tells family of his engagement, meets up with Taylor for lunch, Taylor gets a visit from Felicia, and Brooke. It explains Ridge wearing the same orange shirt.
Off Screen Facts: The engagement to marriage arc was expedited due to Ronn Moss having to travel to Italy for filming the Baron. The actor Lane Davies stepped in as Ridge to cover for a week with Taylor and Ridge returning from their honeymoon.

This is the most confusing storyline from this show to me. To this day I can't seem to grasp what really happened. Was it really a rebound and sacrifice for him at first with someone he is attracted to and cares for but he fell in love with her more deeply later on? Or did he wanted both of them equally at the same time and just had to make a choice so he made the one that would also benefit his father but not only because of that? I am a big fan of this couple but this storyline is so ambiguous and it was never made clear by the writing at that time or maybe I didn't notice when it was.

Tridge were never a rebound or sacrifice. Ridge pursued her for a year and a half while she was engaged to Storm and dating ex-husband. Since Taylor was a psychiatrist, she was analytic and questioning Ridge frequently about his feelings. B&B used the triangle dynamic to keep viewers captivated.That is why it was ambiguous and drawn out. It started with Brooke vs. Caroline and later Brooke vs Taylor. The Tridge angle had deep emotion, sensuous, and beauty. The Bridge angle was fun, unpredictable sexy. When Ridge had to make a decision to marry or stay married from 1987-2005, he chose Caroline and Taylor over Brooke.
