i have 2 questions 1st:do i need to pay to play online? 2nd:are the servers open the whole time? i just got the game and tried to play but it didn't allowed me to play online(i have xbox live)

If you are playing with a xbox series x/s or even xbox one then yeah, you need to have xbox live gold in your account to play online because i ran into the same problem when i first bought it (i'm playing on series s). The servers should be open and functioning properly the whole time, i haven't ran into any issues regarding the online servers so far. Hope this helps
