I have the real ridge racer cab sit-down, I don't know much about the 1up version but in the original there is a service menu which you can set the difficulty all it does is add more time when on the easier modes the other cars A.I doesn't change just the time.

I doubt you'll see Crusin' USA as Nintendo own the name. Hence why the recent Crusin' Blast was exclusive to the Switch. More likely to get it's sister franchise: San Francisco Rush, as Warner Bros owns that.

What would be totaly amazing is if A1Up gave the option of putting multiple Ridge Racer cabs physically linked together for multiple players racing against eachother. And yes, the audio needs an upgrade.

If the covers fit the pedals properly I think that would be a pretty good mod. I’m hoping a third party comes out with a higher quality set of pedals altogether. It would be a massive upgrade to this great cab.

Totally agree with you on the gas and brake pedals. They feel super cheap and I wish they would have used something much heavier duty to keep it from dragging around.

Looks pretty good. This will look great in your game room and gives a racer option to play. Glad they nailed the wheel. Hoping for a Cruis' n USA/ World & Exotica or Daytona in the future. Really want Hydro Thunder though!

There was a red button on the original Rave Racer cabinet which I can't see anywhere on the 1up machine. Was that one omitted? I remember it to be very important, I think it said "shut up bitch!" or something. Well... I get back to gaming, since there's a lot of racin' ahead!

Some of the games you can, I forget which ones exactly though. But I know that aspect of these games is arcade accurate with switching the view.

The sound issue is with the audio input on the pcb. Use the headphone audio input instead, sounds way better

Awesome review Jason! I also had this on PS1 as one of my launch titles. I never had it at any of my arcades so all my memories were from the PS1. It almost makes me wish it had the third person mode because that's how I played it.(I understand why it doesn't though) I do hope they continue to improve the pedals. Longevity is a concern on those but the cab itself looks great. Nice job as always

Or is it the actual speaker quality? Because if it's an amplification issue, I may have to do something other than just upgrading the speakers.

@@3rdFloorArcade Come to find out, it appears to be a possible hardware defect coming off the PCB. Apparently upgraded speakers won't help with that much. However, the headphone jack's output is excellent. I'm going to plug in a set of decent speakers and mount them on the cab somewhere tastefully and run the game with the sound output from there.

I wonder can you powerslide the wrong way around a corner in the arcade versions like you could in the PSX port? To embelish: Say there's a tight right coming up. Swerve right, brake, hard left accelerate to initiate slide, and do a magic mirrored 360 through the turn. Does god sort you out in the arcade like he did on the playstation??

That's cool they included the Ace Driver games, awesome formula racing games. The Ace games aren't well emulated in MAME as of yet either, they look like they play flawlessly on your Arcade1up. I've never bought one, but I'm considering it now, either the Ridge Racer one like you got, or the OutRun cab.

I have an ecommerce business that takes up like a third of basement, but theres still tons of room. We have an extra bedroom upstairs that isnt used for anything, but I think its too small for an arcade room.

Another great review my friend! On the one hand, it's awesome to have the better, reactive, steering wheel on this cab. Very cool that it has wifi (although to be honest, every game needs this going forward). What's not cool is the speakers (which are actually quite good on the other A1up racing cab OUTRUN). Worse is the $700 MSRP - too much green for this cab IMO; $550 a lot closer to a fair price. Would loved to have seen at least 12 racing games on this cab - there are so many good games out there, so few options. Keep these awesome reviews coming Jason!

Best Buy has it on sale right now (4-23-22) for $549. Like you, I felt $700 was way too much for this cab. As soon as I saw it on sale, I borrowed the neighbor's truck and went and snagged it. These big boxes don't fit very well in the trunk of a Camaro...grin...

When will A1UP realize audio is a huge part of the arcade experience? Aside from that it looks like a step towards the Sega racing cab I want. Not stand up tho. I'll never understand a preference for stand-up racing. Their benches suck but great opportunity for improvising a nice seat.

I have Outrun and agree...1Up nailed the steering wheel. Sound on the Sega cab is good, but I have the same crappy pedals. Really unfortunate they jacked up the price on Ridge Racer, no reason it shouldn't be $499 like Outrun.

After playing Ridge Racer, I’m really tempted now on picking up a stand up Outrun cab. I think overall A1UP did a great job on these driving cabs. Hopefully a third party comes out with a more premium set of pedals.

It works with Ace Driver. The force feedback on this machine is accurate with the ones that had it in the arcades. 👍

Thanks so much G G I really appreciate you watching. The gas peddles are ok, not great but also not bad. I definitely recommend not playing too rough on them especially if you have kids. A1UP used better springs on them compared to the Outrun driving cab which is a plus. Overall awesome cabinet, you won’t be disappointed.

These arcade1up prices are ridiculous. The company is relying on an older demographic and nostalgia to sell their products. You can play most of these games on any laptop computer for free using roms.

There’s no clutch pedal on this so it would be difficult to learn how to drive a stick shift with this. But the concept of when to change gears is something someone could pick up on here by using the gear shifter.

Wow!!! I'm impressed with the Ridge Racer cabinet and the lineup of racing games that's included on there! For $599 on sale is definitely a good price point for anyone to have in their collection, including me, lol. I never heard of the F1 games though it reminds me of Pole Position only in 3D yet I'm still impressed with them nonetheless in how they both play. Great review Jason! Its perfect for those that played that in the arcades growing up. Unfortunately I only played Daytona and Crusin so no interest in other driving cabs like Ridge n Outrun. Fingers crossed for Daytona!!

@@3rdFloorArcade that would certainly be a dream come true. I currently have Daytona on my xbox so I normally leave that on the screen for the complete arcade vibe. Its a great touch to the arcade room but it's just not the same without the wheel n pedal.

Well it finally went on sale at Best Buy for $549 and luckily, I just sold a car for big bucks so I have cash in hand. Going to pick it up in just a few minutes. I just couldn't bring myself to pay $700 for this.

Yeah the replay value on some of these aren’t the greatest especially the beat’em up games. But the addition of the online play and leaderboards definitely helps.

This cab looks great standing next to my T2. Games are questionable... a mixed bag of crazy fun and crazy frustration, 🤪. Really hard to stay off the walls in these NAMCO style racers, they are definitely their "own thang". I've always had fun playing the original in the arcade and it's still my favorite here on this cab, both for the nostalgic factor and it's the best handling of the 5 games. The others are faster games and the faster they are, the more the flaws show in the handling designs of these games. And man do the competitor cars get CHEAP as hell when you do well, running you right into walls and other cars. Despite the imperfections in handling and collision detection mechanics, the games are still crazy fun, mostly due to the amazing shifting game. A must have for racing enthusiasts, but I don't think it's as entertaining or enjoyable as the Outrun cab. My favorites on this are the original Ridge Racer, Ace Driver and Rave Racer. The other two are enjoyable as well, just have more issues with collision detection I think. Just made top 10 on Ridge Racer last night, can't wait to see where you place on this one brother!
