This had absolutely no issue removing or reinstalling the lug nuts and it took off the axle nut without any struggle. Sounds like it's got some muscle to it. Time will tell

I have this and it is a great impact wrench. The torque claim by Ridgid is higher than what it really is. The Torque Testing channel has tested this and the highest is 791 ft/lb.

Yes but the test torque test channel said to use the Octane 3 amp battery because that's the battery with 21700 cells the other batteries have 18650 cells 👍

With regular battery you'll lose power. Try again with the 6 or 9AH Octane battery and report back on what you find!

So I know this was two years ago, but what torque test channel measures can be quite a bit less than breakaway torque, which can’t really be effectively measured. I’d say the breakaway torque figure probably isn’t too far off

Most people seem to just put on lugs on their semis and lorrys with an air gun on full blast to save time, props for actually using a torque wrench.

Kudos for taking time to become familiar with your equipment and you are right about putting oil in the space between the flange and the nut. Should be done before you install the nut though as the oil permits the nut to turn with less resistance once the flange has made contact with the wheel.

The 3ah battery uses the 21700 cells, rather than the 18650 cells used in Rdigid's standard batteries. The 21700 will put out more amps to the tool than 18650's will. I THINK the 3ah battery is the only one using the 21700's, but admit I could well be mistaken about that.

Actually not mistaken about the 3.0 ah octane battery that's the only one currently right now that has 21700 cells the new Max output 6.0 ah and 8.0 ah coming out in a few months will have 21700 cells

@@tradesmenlife - Bigger batteries do not give you more power (as in watts). What It gives you is a less of a voltage drop in the larger battery when tested alongside the smaller batteries over a period of time. Power is a product of volts times amperes (in a DC circuit).

I’m pretty sure the whole Octane line of batteries (3, 6 & 9Ah) uses the 21700 Samsung 30T. The 30T has a max sustained output of about 30-35A. So the 9Ah Octane could in theory have an output of 105 amps! At 18.5V that’s 1942w! I mean, they may well have limited the current seeing as the standard Ridgid battery contacts may not be able to handle 100A. Still, the Octane is a chunky line.

I work at a trailer/truck repair shop. I have this impact and for me it hasn’t worked too well because of this issue. I think they get way over torqued with the 1”.

Well, if you have a wrench that TTC dyno'd, and knew how much torque it puts out after so-and-so seconds of hammering(or have a wrench that literally could not make more than 500 ft-lbs), I presume you'd still be more accurate with those lugs than the boys at Mavis Discount.

Hey man I'm not calling you a liar but those wheels didnt seem be tightened down to 450 because my dads friend who has a RV gets his tighten down to 450 and when my dad a 1/2 air ingersoll rand it struggled to take the wheel off

Torque test channel has Dyno runs on this unit at 738 ft/lb at 10 seconds in reverse so not remotely close to lying.

only with the Octane battery they don't make anymore. Probably because the parent company TTI also owns Milwaukee and it outperformed the equivalent Fuel 1/2 impact, and the new batteries put it behind the Fuel impact
