It's been a few weeks since we received the ‪@dewalttv‬ DCF900 High Torque Impact Wrench, and we've been looking forward to doing this review. Many people have said this is the most powerful 1/2" impact wrench, so we were pumped to find out. There is no doubt, this DeWalt High Torque impact wrench definitely delivers the power. You get 4 different power modes: 3 incremental power modes and the Precision Wrench mode. The marketing claims state this DCF900 impact wrench delivers up to 1,400 ft-lbs of loosening torque. Drill- Packedge in typical box, came with a tool bag (added bonus), two batteries, one charger, drill, and driver. Two words "plenty of Torque" kzbin.infoUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv well I guess that's three. Nice upgrade from current setup. Has belt clips, I don't think I will be using those. Driver and drill were bigger than what I expected but it is an upgrade from the current setup. For the money I would say that this is a great setup for Professionals and DIY/Weekend warriors.

I love how he stops at 1800 and says "nope, it's not moving it," even though it was clearly moving it. Tim used to annoy us by testing impacts with undersized bolts. Now he has big enough bolts but doesn't let the tool finish the job.

On the new harbor freight impact video he hammers on that thang foreverrrrr trying to get it to get past 1300-1400ftlbs. If he would have gave this dewalt that much time i think it would have removed the 1800 and maby even started on the 1900

Great review, for those wondering why he didn't use a 12.0 ah or the big daddy 15.0 ah battery on the 1,800 ft lb fastener its because other KZbin channels testing has shown the 9.0 ah to be the most powerful. The 12.0 battery gets hot pretty quick trading discharge capacity for runtime compared to the 9.0 and the 15.0 is really only about runtime. Thanks for the video!

The 9ah battery performs the best because Dewalt used the Panasonic NCR21700A extreme high output cells. Each cell is capable of 20 amps peak, so the 9ah battery with 3 banks of cells can put out 60 amps at 20 volts, or 1200 watts. The 5ah battery uses Samsung 25r cells that also put out 20 amps peak, but it only has 2 banks of cells for a maximum discharge current of 800 watts.

Been running my dcf900 for about a month an a half now. Im glad to finally see this video since you teased it in a short clip over a month ago. This thing just kills any other 1/2in gun out there. Air or cordless! It even beats the dewalt 3/4 drive and Milwaukee 3/4in drive guns. Its really past the limit of a 1/2in drive socket. It eats up the drive ends of cheap and expensive impact sockets quick! Small price to pay for the most powerful 1/2in impact on the market!

My dcf900 just sits in the tool box looking at it menacingly. DcF891 can handle all the tight stuff I run into. 80 percent of the time my dcf921 is about as high I’ll need to go. (I also have the dcf903 and 902.) Unless I’m removing Honda crankshaft bolts pulled out of an ocean floor… just don’t see that kind of torque. You run into this level of tightness often ?

I’ve had mine for a while now it’s a heavy beast been using it for putting my new garage together 4 inches 3/8 lag bolts love that thing took a 2 5/16 ball off that I was struggling to get off with my 3/4 drive ratchet grab my impact and broke loose and spun right off worth every penny my wife was scared of it when she started putting 4 1/2 inch tapcon bolts in by the time we got done she love that impact again love that impact

Bought one of these yesterday to get off a stubborn crank bolt on my 2011 TL. Couldn't get it off with my IR231 or breakers bars. Tried heat and multiple applications of penetrating oil. Nothing worked. This tool zipped it right off. Highly recommended!

Wow just did the same thing on a 2010 TL. Man, I tried the mid torque (Dewalt dcf921) and nothing but the smell of it overheating. Shucks, had to tell my wife I could not get her car fixed unless I had one of these :) Went to the Depot, got it home and put a 5ah on it, took all but 3 seconds and that crank bolt was off! Car fixed, back on the road and I have a new Impact :)

Even though we showed that the Milwaukee couldn’t do it either? We’re not going to burn down an impact wrench and run it constant for a solid minute, just to show it removing a fastener. We like to show repeatable tests that would be somewhat common I typical work. Thanks for watching.

I JUST bought mine yesterday. 299.00 no case, just the gun. I went over to harbor freight and bought a Bauer tool bag, a full set of pittsburgh Impact sockets, and a universal. I got all that for 80 bucks. I think im gonna go back and buy some extensions just in case. Im an OTR truck driver so not using it all day every day. Its just peace of mind knowing i have it if i need it. We tried changing out my Nephews shocks on his truck and couldnt budge with wrenches.

Great review! Curious if this channel or anyone has any average torque numbers fastening or breaking for each speed level. Trying to understand if this beast can be used effectively as a mid torque so I am not accidentally ripping or stripping bolts. I understand that there is the Precision Wrench control feature; however. I was curious what specific torque spec controls there are simply using the speed levels. I saw on video the RIDGID R86211 6 Mode that controlled torque and speed. That was a great design. Unfortunately as you know, it is no longer available at HD. Thus i am curious how well or not is the torque controllable on this Dewalt 900.

Man, I've been wondering the same thing for a while now. Almost to a point where it's getting frustrating watching these videos and no one, and I mean NO ONE tests each power level!! Why?? I don't get why none of these channels that accurately test the torque of each of these high-end tools wouldn't test the max torque of each power level?? Glad to see I'm not the only one that cares. Looks like we just need to do it ourselves! Wanna start a channel together?! "ALL Levels Of Torque" or "Power Level 1-3 Torque Test Channel". Haha

You should never be in that situation. There is not too much reverse torque but for installing fasteners, you always let off far ahead of time and finish with a torque wrench or by hand. There is no way to expect impact blows from a tool like this, to average in on a specific torque, especially when it depends on the socket length, mass, extensions used, specific battery and state of charge, etc. SO, testing for that would be kind of irrelevant and highly situation specific, not really worth the bother. At the same time, if a reviewer runs out of things to do and wants to throw their time away (which is the opposite of most YT channels trying to maximize profits), then I elect you to do this testing and post videos. ;) Kidding aside, I would watch them, more data is more good.

I bought this from Home Depot 2 days after it was released (coincidentally) for $350 with the bag, 5Ah battery, and charger to remove the crank bolt from my wife's Honda Odyssey so I could do the timing belt service. This was supposed to be the hardest part of the job, but with this and a 2lb 19mm impact socket, the nut was free after about one second. My smaller impact driver is my favorite tool for around the house, but it can't break a lug. This guy breaks it free and spins it off with the inertia with just a short squeeze. Working on my Jeep is about to get a whole lot easier.

You way overpaid, any major brand 1/2", current version impact driver around $150 can take off any 19mm fastener. Even one heavily rusted on, it's only 19mm, rust itself can only have so much surface area on a mere 19mm fastener and some penetrant applied ahead of time. Even so, for axle nuts, or especially crankshaft nut, you will benefit and enjoy the extra torque. You should never try to use an impact driver (assuming 1/4" size) for lug nuts if you have a better option, because it will stress and eventually shear just about any 1/4" socket adapter out there, which is why most brands are already exceeding useful torque specs on their 1/4" offerings, and why they make 3/8" and 1/2", let alone larger drive size.

Would they have lasted the 15+ years I've had mine without reconditioning? Maybe. Why gamble on Maybe? Thanks for the tip about lugs. I only used the 1/4" impact driver to spin the lugs off once they've been broken loose - though I did try to break them loose once and only once. It's the 1/2" impact that actually can break a lug free.

@@WilliamCWayne Historically speaking, that does not seem accurate unless you have one foot in the grave. I've had multiple power tool lines over the years, because they changed battery chemistry and used a different battery format. I've rebuilt packs a few times, but ultimately I have several good, working tools that I don't care to keep building battery packs for, which (along with starting their brushless motor line) was one of my primary reasons to start building a Ryobi collection, that they have not changed the battery form factor in 15, maybe 20 years.

Besides, it's nonsense, if all you had to do was remove a single crank bolt then all you needed to complete a single job like that was a longer breaker bar. Impact tools make no sense for a single use, rather for recurring use.

The 5ah battery uses Samsung 25r cells that also put out 20 amps peak, but it only has 2 banks of cells for a maximum discharge current of 800 watts. The new 15ah battery can theoretically put out 2400 watts, but given this impact isn't a 60v tool, it probably wouldn't benefit from the extra capability.

Torque test channel tested this impact against snap on , matco and the Milwaukee 2767 , It beat the 2767 by over 200ftlbs , and beat the snap on an matco.

Although I have a sneaky suspicion that your hy torq precision torque fasteners make a significant chunk of the cost.

Any 1/2" socket should fit on the anvil. It may be hard to push the socket one when the tool is new, but it loosens up a little over time.

Although the HBF Ultra Torque impact looks to have bested the DCF900 by a 100 ft lbs, I think I may stick with the Dewalt due to many of my power tools being on this battery platform.

It's a weird way to hold a socket onto a gun, a pin goes through the socket and anvil. Then the o-ring stops the pin from falling out.
