I just bought this after many hours of review. What learned was it DOES fit a vac with a 2.25 or 2.5 inch inlet with a click connection. The other end has a couple attachments for different attachments. It works great.

Interesting thing about suction is that larger hoses don't necessarily mean more suction. Though many people tend to think of it this way. That being said, not all vaccums will respond the same with reductions either. ie, most higher CFM and HP units will improve suction with a minor reduction(ie, 2.5 > 1.7") fittings. Along these same lines, one other major aspect of performance changes with hose and fitting changes comes from the hosing itself. ie, dimple depth and shape as well as length. Which often need to be taken into consideration in order to maintain optimum performance. PS. I've found optimum suction by reducing a 2.5" down to a 1.7" on a 6.5HP 200CFM shop vac. Which doesn't work at all on a vaccum with lower performance.
@ghostses10 жыл бұрын
That's correct. In my application, it was simply unusable over the stock hose as the vac lost most of its performance. It seemed the CFM was greatly reduced with paring this with my vac. The best solution I found was to get a collapsible hose as I've outline in another video. I've been using it for a few years and it works great for me. Check it out if you're interested. ***** I've been salivating over one of those EZ flex hoses since I first read about them in a wood working blog. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a reseller in Canada and the distribution company didn't seem to ship here last I looked. Might have another gander in case they revised there shipping policies. (fingers crossed). Otherwise, I would love to have one
@ghostses10 жыл бұрын
J0hnBee I really like it. It does want to collapse when you turn the vac on and you do have to fight the hose a bit, but it's a small price to pay. I have my vac locked under my drill press so it stays put. Other than that- they're great. Hopefully you can find a source to get one up to you. I think you would like it. Thanks again, G.

How on earth does the long, black, 2 piece attachment that comes with the vacuum, attach to the upgraded hose end? Sorry for the silly question, but I honestly can't figure out how the two connect, different size connector points? Am I overlooking a adapter? Id really like to vacuum my shop floor without hurting my back, tks.
@ghostses3 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming you have the large tubes, not the 1 1/4" ones. If so, you can see the connector here in the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rILIZZtmr9ysh6M That gets installed in the end of the hose, and your accessories fit inside it. If you have the 1 1/4" accessories, I don't believe this kit works with them. This kit might work, but not sure. www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-1-1-4-in-Premium-Car-Cleaning-Accessory-Kit-for-RIDGID-Wet-Dry-Shop-Vacuums-VT2534/100638355 Hope this helps, G.

I just had the opposite experience with this hose - in a machine shop, vacuuming up metal chips. The very smooth inside surface of this hose provides less resistance to airflow, as well as a smoother surface to prevent chips and debris from clogging up the hose. I found the reduction in diameter to be offset by the higher quality, durability, and smooth interior.

Thanks! I went out and got 6.5 HP 10 gallon Shop Vac that comes with a 1.25 inch hose, but the attachment was the same on all the Shop Vacs, so I bought the 2.5 inch hose and all the attachments for it, separately. It works very well. It's not a round vacuum, it's more oblong, I like the shape of it. The Dustless is going back when it gets here.

Just bought the Craftsman version which fits perfectly on my Rigid 1.78 inch opening. Since it was made for a 1.78 opening I dont lose suction. Like in your video, I wouldnt get it for a wider, 2.5 inch opening. I have had no problems yet with the attachment system - in fact there is an attachment which allows me to use 2.5 accessories. I still have to explore that. I got it through a Sears overstock auction for only $6. A total score. I know this video was posted a few years ago, but OP ghostes did you try hoses/accessories from Rockler?
@ghostses10 жыл бұрын
I can see where you would be fine using it with a smaller opening since it would not decrease suction. You did get a total score for $6 for sure! I didn't look at what Rockler has to offer. I ended up getting a EZ Flex Collapsible hose and modified my fittings to work with it. It's about 3' collapsed and about 21' extended. Here's a clip of what it is, and what I did. 2.5" EZ Flex Dust Collection Hose Review and Modifications Thanks Matthew, G.

This is an excellent hose if you're ok with the dimensions (I am). I have two rigid vacuums, a 12 gal 5 hp and a 14 gal. 6 hp. This hose fit both easily. The 5 hp one I have came with 1 3/4" hose but can use 2", I've used it to suck up anything from fine dust to piles of broken tile. Anything that will fit in the hose ends up in the canister. No jams. I've sucked up tee shirts and small towels accidentally. I've combined both hoses to clean flexible ducting out to 20' (wtf was anyone thinking running that much flexible duct) The larger hose on the 6 hp is cumbersome. If I primarily used my vacuum as a dust collector in a shop I'd want a large hose for large, loose wood shavings. My primary use is to clean up job sites and function as a tool dust collector. This orange rigid hose is as large as I'd want to go when it's attached to a handheld power tool.

Its an example of why there is a special circle in hell for the makers of shop vacuum systems: amoung the various manufacturers they all try to be so cute and outsmart each other by having a variety of incompatible sized hoses and adpters. FFS why could they not just make one or two sizes where the fitting fit the hoses, no matter the manfacturer. Nope, you have vacuum a from maker b has diameter c which you then have to fit to saw d of manufacturer e.

@@ghostses still probably only costs $5 to make. Haha the vacuum I have already has the 1⅞" hose so it works great compared to the factory hose with the same flexibility as drain tile.
@ghostses4 жыл бұрын
@@grantpeterson2987 Agreed Grant! I can see that if your vac already has a smaller hose it would still work great- or even better with flexibility like you've stated. It choked mine down terribly since mine has the larger hose. I didn't take into consideration that they do produce vacs with different diameters of hoses. They should've made a kit for each instead of trying to go with a one size fits all. My solution (as documented in another video somewhere on my channel outlined a collapsible hose) is still working great. Glad you're satisfied to date! Good luck, G.
@grantpeterson29874 жыл бұрын
@@ghostses yes, they should have made a kit for each size hose, and it would probably be cheaper because you wouldn't need the 47 adapters for the different sizes. Same goes for the auto detailing kit, its only for the 1½" or 1¼" size hose. So you really couldn't use it. I've seen where people make their own hose from some type of pool vac hose. I use mine primarily in my garage so I may get the wall mount version that comes with 27' of hose and use the other one for odds and ends elsewhere.

Eh. According to the most-credible review/shootout I've ever seen, they're middling, but mostly due to factors which *can* be DIY-improved like canister-to-powerhead seal to retain better suction. Also, considering what kind of shell-games EVERY brand plays with their component manufacturers lately, different models may well be entirely different products and results. kzbin.info/www/bejne/noSxaIOOrNNkr7c
