The first listing is a copy of a Auerswald Model C - I remember seeing Prince (briefly) play it towards the end of the Lovesexy gig in London. "The Auerswald Model C is an electric guitar used by Prince in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It was built by the luthier Jerry Auerswald, who also built the Symbol guitar and Cleo bass. It has a bar connecting the body to the headstock, called a "sustain bow" - like the Roland G-707, "

another one of those weird things I know bc of Ed Roman's wacky website and the endless hours I spent reading it all
@MK-101023 сағат бұрын
@@ksukhia That crazy site is still up? I thought he died about 10 years ago, and Gibson had sued him, or they tried to. I don't remember the whole story, but wasn't he heavily modding Les Pauls with a different cutaway and heel joint? I think he even re-branded them as his own.
@ksukhia15 сағат бұрын
@@MK-1010 no I dont think it is, though you can find it on way back machine or internet archive... I was reading it back in 2005-06 tho when he was still swinging around all crazylike very much alive lol Not sure he rebranded the vintage ones, but ya, he had no issues 'improving' something like a 59 LP.

Does anybody else find it ridiculous when a piece of gear is, say, $500 new (free shipping). And someone decides to sell the same item USED for, say, $450 plus $100 shipping? I see it all the time. Who would buy the used item in this case?

Because people don't want to accept that as soon as you bring a new guitar home or it gets delivered 35% of its value is immediately lost.

The headless bass looks like the first Stienberger prototype, and it's funny how it says 15 out of 30 survived. Did the other 15 wind up in the fireplace? What a strange time, the 70s were. We were still recovering from the 60s. 😄

The 1st one is ultra weird, but, for guys who like weird instruments it's not too bad of a deal for a really really weird guitar. And I LLLLLOVE guitars which are entirely white (fretboard included) like my ESP LTD TE-200 that my luthier worked on (stainless steel frets, Fletcher scatter wound humbuckers, entirely white with chrome hardware and perloid inlays and binding). And I can't see the detail of the spray paint cans, but now you also have high-gloss quality polyurethane spray paint (you need to activate the 2 component mix within the can before spraying) that you can use when you don't have the complete air compressed spray gun ... so, you can make a very good polyurethane paint/finish with polyurethane spray cans.

"Why do you exist headless guitar?" because in the late 70s to mid 80s it was all about "modern new style" and frankly Fenders and Gibsons of the time were total trash. That is why you had all the crazy guitar and bass designs with all the crazy colors, people didn't want malaise era Fender and Gibson instruments, so everyone was trying new things. I still have my Washburn Force bass from 83 which looks like you took a P-Bass and stretched it, still plays and looks great after all these years.

I looked into antonio tsai a decade ago and I found out he was a teacher of a furniture making class somewhere in southeast asia and his students would build guitars for the class (IDK why) and he would list them on ebay for sale and they were really cheap for all the inlay work. The quality is supposedly terrible on them so they are more wall hangers than players. I don't know if all this info is correct but that seemed to be what I found out. I considered buying one for around $300 a long time ago but glad I didn't.
