you think these were bad you should check out the floating stadium that san diego was considering back in the 1960s. the football field & baseball diamond were landlocked with water on both sides & 2 floating grand stands that would move from one to the other

That Dodgers proposed renovation, real or not, makes me cry. I wish the Rangers still played at that ballpark. The country club mall they now call a stadium is just terrible.

The Denver proposal is shaped like the Astrohall which stood next to the Astrodome. I read about a planned retractable-roof stadium in Naperville, IL, called the American Colossus. It was uncannily like SkyDome in Toronto, and one plan for the Colossus was for McDonald's to operate the concessions. It would have replaced both Wrigley Field and Soldier Field.

Have you ever covered the BaltoDome? It was a dome proposed for the Colts & Orioles in the late 60's or early 1970's that was eventually shot down by Baltimore politicians. This dome was to sit almost exactly where Oriole Park sits today!! Carroll Rosenbloom was the owner of the Colts at the time... and his inability to get a stadium in Baltimore City or County caused him to trade the Colts for the LA Rams. Of course, this gave Baltimore Bob Irsay...

What was Center Field in that Anaheim proposal? 800 feet?

That said, yeah that Dodgers renovation is clearly a gag because it takes things from other parks as well, not just the Rangers. That centerfield scoreboard is clearly taken from Old Comiskey Park, and someone superimposed the Yankee Stadium facades onto the upper deck, as if the Dodgers would EVER make their place look like Yankee Stadium.

Boston Dome retractable roof actually looked cool for the era.

Jacksonville Jaguars can use the Falcons greenhouse concept as their inspiration for a renovation. Jaguars only need to keep the two upper decks and build a new lower bowl and green house-like retractable roof.

Why not just copy the olde Commisky Park or Tiger Stadium with the following changes: -eliminate the obstructing posts. Thats what the 73-75 Yankee Stadium did. -eliminate the deluxe boxes. Set aside a space beyond the outfield stands where the uber rich can park their Burning Man luxury Winnebagos. -price the food and beverage concessions to whatever the price on the outside.. - move the bullpens next to the Winnebagos and use the freed up space as dog parks.

I wouldn't say the White Sox renovation was ripping off the Rangers' old ballpark, though. That's clearly a throwback to the upper outfield stands of the original Comiskey Park, which it and Tiger Stadium were the inspiration for the Rangers Ballpark home run porch.

The White Sox renovation would actually be a return to the original stadium.

I think that's what they might be going for when they build a new stadium.

If White Sox wanted to do a renovation 3.0, get rid of those outfield pillars and rebuild the outfield all together.

The Sox wanted to leave Fenway in the 60s. They didn't share the Fenway passion that's out there today My guess is that they were sharing it with the Patriots and both teams considered it a shit hole. Completely opposite of what we feel about it today.

Apparently the White Sox had the chance to build the first retro park, like Camden Yards, but they supposedly passed on that. And Depressed can you please do a story on the Jets stadium they would have taken over had NY gotten the Olympics a few years back. I believe it was going to be in Manhattan, possibly where the old Polo Grounds used to be.

Someone tell me why Dodger Stadium is better than New Comiskey Park. The outfield season is way more of an eyesore and bland than Comiskeys
