Do I have too many saddle pads? Some would say yes. Well, I'd say no lol. Let me try to justify how many I have and give some sort of perspective since I feel I didn't do a very good job of saying it in the video: I've been collecting pads for actually over 14 years now. I'm an eventer so I must have dressage and jump cut pads. I also have at-home schooling pads, and nice, white show pads. My horses are athletes. I only buy the best quality pads to put on their backs. Believe it or not, saddle pads can make a huge difference in the well being of your horse as well as muscle development. I buy high quality that will last me for multiple years ( case in point- a lot of these are olddd). I also buy pads that are contoured at the top spine and have some sort of wicking material on the underside (I'm not a huge fan of plain cotton pads). But buying high quality pads isn't only about getting the best for my horses; it also brings me joy ( I had a Marie Kondo moment after filming lol). Somedays, a pretty saddle pad sparks joy (yes I said it haha) and makes my day that much brighter! I also ride anywhere from 1-3 horses a day in my saddle pads (the rest of the client horses have their own pads). I will not put a dirty pad on my horse's back so I go though a lot of washing quickly. cleanliness is key to a happy and healthy horse in any aspect of their care. One of the more important things to remember is that you don't need to spend an arm and a leg on good quality saddle pads. I've maybe paid full price and 4 of these pads. Another 6 were gifted to me by friends and family over the years. The rest, I've purchased when on a good sale or better yet, clearance out. I buy when prices are much lower than retail. A lot of my ogilvys are super old too- I believe the regular price of those have gone up quite bit over the past few years. My point is, I don't go out and buy pads because I love them. I will wait until it goes on sale before buying. That may be a month or a year I'd have to wait. And sometimes, I miss out on a cool pad because I waited too long until there were none left and no sale. In regards to Marie Kondo, I now have a pile of 11 saddle pads that are going to soon be washed and sold because they no longer spark joy for me. AKA let me know if you're interested in any of the pads I mentioned may be for sale. The bottom line is this: different things bring joy to different people. I probably will get many comments from people appalled at the sheer amount of pads I have amassed. Saddle pads bring me joy and they have the added bonus of physically benefiting my horses. I won't apologize for that, nor will I stop buying saddle pads. Enjoy this ridiculously long saddle pad video or simply congrats if you've made it this far. Q: What's something that brings you joy?

Saddle pads definitely bring me joy. I have a great organization system for them which is my justification for getting more pads 😂 if they will fit on my rack and I'll use it, why not 😂

*Sighs* "This is going to be a long video.." 😂😂😂 Wow, so many beautiful colours!!! I love these kinds of videos. I would really appreciate a comparison in the quality between the different brands, how they hold up to multiple washing and so on. That would be really intersting. At our barn some old saddle pads emerged while cleaning out the tack room. They were really really old and from Eskadron and Equest (Hölscher). I believe the filling is pure cotton, so no polyester fill, the underside is pure cotton as well I think and they are still in such good condition. Sadly, Eskadron does not produce this kind of quality anymore. I am curious about the different Ecogold saddle pads. Is it just a hype, or are they really this special? In Germany one KZbinr did an Equestrian "Empties" video, that was really cool as well, since she gave her opinion on each product. Empties is usually a thing with beauty vlogs I think, so she just adapted it to equestrian products. A friend of mine (she has a "problem" with saddle pads as well) hangs hers with clothes hangers on a rod, it works well for her to organize them like that.

good saddle pads are often hard to find affordably these days. Ecogold is on the expensive side but I do believe the cool fit models are worth the price tag, especially in warmer climates or jumping/xc. The empties idea is intriguing!

Have you tried the carbon LeMieux pads yet? I ordered one but isn’t available till later this month. Got it in navy and have my eye on the grey as well! Love the suede close contact pads as well. And The half square shape I’m in love with for XC! I have three of them - teal, grey and a purple color!

I haven’t tried the newest updated style of the mesh pads. Maybe soon though! I tried one of the xc shaped pads but unfortunately it was too small for the flap of my saddle so I had to return it 😢

Keelari oh man! Bummer. I’m borrowing my instructors saddle right now (Stübben Zaria optimum) while I save up for a custom and wondering if that style pad will fit that saddle (Zaria is on my list of potentials!). That saddle also has a very forward flap. I haven’t tried the pad yet and it is just sitting in my tack locker so should probably see if the cut works. What saddle do you have?
@Keelari
@Keelari 4 жыл бұрын
Elise Hermann I have a voltaire design monoflap xc saddle in an 18” (fits like a 17.5”) with a 2A flap. The LM pad was not wide enough across the flap part. And that was the new carbon mesh xc shape pad I had tried and returned. I have other friends who had that same problem too. I’d recommend checking the size before buying more of the xc shape!

Keelari absolutely! I’ll maybe put down a thin towel and try it on my mare without getting it dirty to see if it fits. ❤️

Can you do a review on your weatherbeeta saddle pads
@Keelari
@Keelari 4 жыл бұрын
I could but tbh, they aren't my favorite compared to all the other brands I have. They are certainly better than the really cheap ones but for their cost, I'd rather pay $5 more and get a better quality Lemieux pad.

So cool to see an american that have catago and love them as much as I do. I had the exact same black and teal dressage pad, but I sold it and now I have it in jump cut, I also have the red. I have a saddlepad collection video on my channel... Are you interested in Mattes saddle pads in green? I have 2 in the L size but they are too long in the spine for the size of saddle I use.

I love the catalog pads! The dressage fit nice but the jump shape doesn't fit my saddle unfortunately. How do you pronounce the brand? I feel like I'm always butchering the pronunciation of it. I do have 2 mattes pads already in size Large that fit well. I'll check out your video!

@@Keelari Well, I'm not danish, so if you want the danish pronunciation I'd recommend this video, the girl is a Catago sponsored rider, kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKHOen96Ys9_aM0 Personally my A's don't sound like hers, because I'm Norwegian and our A's are more like the english pronunciation of "barn"...

What is a „baby“ saddle pad?
@thelonelyequestrian6785
@thelonelyequestrian6785 4 жыл бұрын
Juniper just a really thin one I think :)
@Keelari
@Keelari 4 жыл бұрын
Traditionally, a baby pad is a really thin, rectangular piece of quilted cotton that was used underneath a half pad or another saddle pad with the sole purpose of keeping the half pad or saddle pad cleaner. It would be simple to wash the baby pad more consistently than a nicer pad that may deteriorate over time from a lot of washing. Or there’s some half pads that can’t be washed at all. Now days, baby pads generally aren’t rectangular in shape. They are more contoured like a normal saddle pad and may have girth straps. They are still on the thinner side as compared to a regular pad. The ‘baby pads’ in my video aren’t really a traditional baby pad. They are the same thickness as a regular saddle pad, but do not have girth straps. The only similarity to a traditional baby pad is the rectangular shape. Hope that helps explain!
