Last winter we had about 5cm of snow on top of the ice, and we used an ATV with snowplow to make a 2km racetrack and raced time attack on it. Super fun! until one of my exhaust valves broke and fell into the cylinder :P

Problem is the sheer size! You'll need hundreds of cones, witch all have to be removed before it thaws. And wind will blow most of them all across the ice. rope or tape is even worse in wind. You'll need truckloads of it. And there is nothing to tie it to. Painting the ice won't be very visible and colored powder wil fly everywhere. How they did it is probably the best way: Wait untill it snows, and then clear a track with a skidsteer of bobcat. Using the snow to make snow-berms.

I saw another vid on ice but they were using super carts and there was a snow mobile with a fucking “Busa” engine running it.Was a beautiful sight.
