Hello David..I have lived most of my life in San Jose, 101 hwy & 280 hwy area. It has some EastHill roads up to Mt. Hamilton Lick Observatory that goes out to Tracy & Livermore 580 hwy. Then further north is SF. But got to get out of area for no traffic to riding. Hollister south also and then Santa Cruz beach area is Highway 1..good to go on that along the west coast. But now out of SJ to Los Los Banos.(south). Sometimes too frecking hot (100+) to ride. Yosemite not to far. So I look to ride & find that good road while I can. Keep it up and rkeep rolling down the roads.😎 Thank you, keep safe. Happy Trails to you & your girl. Goose_HD 883 Lady🙂

Yea it was a sketchy moment. Anna had to dodge him mid corner. She’s still not super comfortable, but the way she started was on the shadow 600, just easing around back roads. It’s hard to beat that, for a girl who is naturally a little timid. A little bike, and lots of practice taking off and stopping. She’s still working on her parking lot skills, doing circles and figure 8s, but the way to keep it fun has been to just cruise back roads with almost no traffic. Riding a two lane road at an easy pace is fun for anyone, and very easy to do.

@JeriahMiller3 жыл бұрын
😅 but those cattle were annoying as hell!
@davidalantroyer3 жыл бұрын
Actually most of the locals try to keep that herd off of the road. They’re free range and it’s seriously unsettling to come around a corner on a dark night and drive right into the herd just because the rancher doesn’t want to pay for fencing. I’m not going to say we did the best decision, but I will say it did no harm as far as I can see.
@SmittyAZ3 жыл бұрын
I've stayed in / ridden through Libby (Hayabusas and ZX-12 14's) a few times after leaving GNP, but I just booked it to Bonners Ferry to return to AZ. I didn't think to check out the local roads. Usually, the locals will give me recommendations. I tend to just roam around. Thanks for posting - are those roads ever really crowded? I know Montana is now a suburb of Cali and TX!
@davidalantroyer3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great ride, and I have to say Bonners is much nicer to stay in than Libby. No, these roads are almost always empty, except in hunting season, but even then they’re empty comparatively to the rest of the country. There is an influx of people from mostly liberal areas, for whatever reason, but it’s not terrible, yet... there tends to be a trend with liberals toward attempting to shut down local logging and other major sources of revenue, which leads to much worse forest fires activity and a crippled economy, but it’s not as bad here as other places
@donvan56113 жыл бұрын
Now that I seen the entire ride, the comment from a viewer about the cattle "not cool", he was absolutely right, why would want to mess with a mans cattle. "Scaring cattle", you defiantly didn't grow up in ranch land country.
@davidalantroyer3 жыл бұрын
I felt it was a good idea to get them off the road. Maybe not the best way, but people have been hurt running into free range herds like that on blind corners. Also worth noting this was not on someone’s private property. Regardless, you shared your view without being insulting, which is rare these days!

I grew up with cattle and scaring cattle is not cool at all man. The smart thing to do is pull in the clutch and coast by.
@davidalantroyer3 жыл бұрын
That’s a fair point to make, but cattle living on a well traveled public road is not cool either. It’s a serious traffic hazard on some of those corners and pushing them off of the road did no harm as far as I can see

If it's a group ride, you should be in a "Group". If you are leading at 75-80 mph, the people in the back have to run 85 to try and catch up. Not fun and not safe. Respectfully sir, you ride like you're by yourself.

As am I, although I do have a soft spot for the new low rider S. Yea I keep hearing that... I’m slowly coming around on the idea, although I maintain that more people are not happy with the rancher for allowing his cattle to live on the highway.
@mikebarron58053 жыл бұрын
I agree, cattle are annoying and sometimes dangerous. Be glad they weren't in the road at the far end of a tight curve. 😨 I'd also like to point out that Cattle Guards are an integral part of a ranchers fenceline. If you see one, assume there are livestock in the area. 🤔 A good rule of thumb If you see a cattle guard, Don't go any faster than the speed at which you're willing to hit a large animal. 😁 One last bit of advice, Just because you crossed a 2nd cattle guard doesn't necessarily mean you're safe. It's probably just the fenceline between two different pastures. 😉 Good Luck & Good Riding. 🙋♂️
@davidalantroyer3 жыл бұрын
Mike, you’re right! The strange thing is there is no pasture land for miles. Those cattle free range along the highway and in the woods all summer, making it a real pain for the locals.
@mikebarron58053 жыл бұрын
@@davidalantroyer Dang ! I didn't know there was anywhere that still allowed free range grazing anymore. It doesn't make much sense to put a cattle guard in the road if the cows can just walk around it. 😉 Someone in a government agency somewhere probably has a reason for it. 😉
