What an adventure of a lifetime!!!! Thanks for sharing. I came across your channel while looking for videos of 2up on an Africa Twin to get a sense how the pillion feels while on the bike. After seeing your adventures and how much luggage you can fit with both of you two, I’m amazed and inspired. Currently I have a Triumph Tiger 1200 RE and thinking about switching over to the ATAS. Safe travels.

Well, I'm glad you found us! Feel free to reach out if you have any specific questions. You'd be hard-pressed to find too many people with relevant 2up experience on an AT. 💪🍻

@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets Cool, right on thanks. 🤙🏼 Mainly I’m curious about comfort level. The stock seat doesn’t seem to have much support. It looks like you guys added a pad for additional comfort or did you swap out the stock seat? Also, is it possible for the pillion to see above the driver? On my Triumph, my wife sits up higher and can just see a straight line which is better for her neck. Lastly, is there a lot of engine vibration getting transferred to the foot pegs? Love the content and subscribed.
@TwoWheelsThreeSheets2 ай бұрын
We kept the stock seat adding sheepskin covers for comfort. An aftermarket seat would be ideal.. Not only for comfort, but to keep your pillion from sliding into you at an abrupt stop. I am 5'10" & Rose is only 5'2", so she spent the majority of the day staring at the back of my helmet. A taller pillion or different seat would likely change that. I didn't have problems with vibration, be it in the footpegs or the handlebars. The AT is very smooth. The number one upgrade I suggest would be the best suspension you can afford. Hondas are notoriously under-sprung from the factory, and riding 2-up with luggage is nearly impossible on the stock springs.

Another excellent episode, as ever. I was travelling this year in January, unfortunately the rainy season got worse by El Niño. So I just didn't ride the roads and the area you are showing. Very inspiring and on the agenda for the next trip. You mentioned the aggressive driving in Peru. In fact, the first pass through Lima was the worst and most aggressive I experienced to far. I lived for four years in D.F. and travelled Mexico and Central America for some 46.000 km with my 690. And on this trip (Dec 2023/Jan 2024) around the southern part of South Ameriica some 21.500 km with my 890. But traffic in Lima was absolutely scary. I had the first time the feeling, some of the drives intentionally tried to hit me. Never had this experience in the Americas before. After making it almost through Lima I was pulled over by two traffic police on a moto. Accused of dangerous driving. I thought I have had sufficient experience how to deal with such situation. But these police men simply stripped me off my cash by grabbing in my purse and taking the money. Armed robbery by the police and no chance to prove it. Never had this in Mexico and anyhow no problems with the police in Chile, Argentina nor Brazil. You next episode will probably comment on Lima, I am really looking forward to see how you got through.
@TwoWheelsThreeSheets2 ай бұрын
Wow!! What a bummer... Luckily (knock on wood) we've never had any issues with police, military, etc... anywhere in Latin America. But yes, I agree that the traffic in Lima, especially down by the ports, is absolutely nuts. Typically, whenever we get to a city, we park the bike and walk / Uber / taxi wherever we go. It's nice to not only be off the bike for a couple of days, but not to have to worry about where we park it or dragging our gear along with us! But yes, by comparison, traffic / drivers in Mexico are much more relaxed!

OMG..another flat tyre!! Pity your AT did not have tubeless tyres.. But..when you see the beautiful scenery..what's a wee inconvenience? With all those cows on the road..the uneducated might have thought you had suddenly been transported to India 🇮🇳.. Lastly, Rosie would win Miss Scotland for her fabulous pronunciation of the rrrrrr. 😊 Stay safe..and thanks for taking us along with you

Holy moly, that 3s dusty side rode was littered with danger, dirt and death… some sections look so narrow, it’s a miracle the 18 wheelers are able to get through. Great vid as ever, stunning views and two flats within no time! As you I´d go bananas when noticing the 2nd flat tire. Riding a 750 TA now and wonder what to do with them tube tires. Either change them or change the bike, i.e. go for the new AT (manual/no DCT) with tubeless tires. Anyways, keep it up and ride safe!

Well what ever you throw our way on the next video I’ll be watching from a tent, pull out next week, hopefully we want have the flats like you guys dealt with, well guess your still hanging in Newsom land hopefully you’ll be back on two wheels later, one day take that bike and make your way up to Newfoundland, I’ll be going back there for sure, hang in there and take it easy. Tube tip Chad. Buy natural rubber tubes, thicker is better, but of course don't pack so great as spares. The natural rubber tubes are so much better than the butyl rubber standard thickness east Asia junk you are having to deal with (seam splits, etc). More flexible and durable, Motoz, Michelin, Bridgestone, etc. I'd consider sealing up your rims too (did that on my KTM), at least you could likely fix with a plug and then only need a spare tube if it goes really wrong. Enjoyed it as always.
@TwoWheelsThreeSheets2 ай бұрын
That's exactly the plan. Seal the wheels and just carry tubes in case I damage the rims. For years I've religiously run the Bridgestone Ultra Heavy Duty tubes, but more recently have had a difficult time finding them in the correct size. Someone that told me that they are not rated for street use / speeds, but I'm not sure if that is true. Unfortunately, it's difficult to find anything other than the cheap crap in Latin America. 😒 Cheers!! 🍻
@tellicoadventuretrail2 ай бұрын
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets Yup, same here. And totally understand being at the whim of "small bike" countries as well. Took us all day once to find a rear tire of any kind/size (and it was used) to fit a GS12 in Niksic Montenegro.

Haven't had purple gas since I was a kid. I'm not sure we had farm status, but I think dad used to fill up a Jerry can for the tractor and we used it for the chainsaw and motorcycle too. There must have been gas fraud, but I don't know of anyone abusing it.
@TwoWheelsThreeSheets2 ай бұрын
Too funny! A lot of people don't realize that gas is naturally clear, and even the yellow stuff that we're used to in the US has color added. Gas was generally a different color in every country in LATAM. Yellow, green, purple, red... All the colors of the rainbow! (Apparently, KZbin doesn't have a rainbow emoji)...
