Native of Matoaka, WV. Just FYI Matoaka and Montcalm are 2 different towns. A smaller town named Rock lies in between them along the Pocahontas Trail. Great video! Thanks for the content.

Going to Hatfield and McCoy trails in 2 weeks. Have a cabin at Twin Hollows. This trail system has been on my bucket list for awhile. I'm from Michigan and ride atv's so, we like to ride the more challenging 50" trails and this way we stay away from the bigger side by side traffic. The only concern I have in going , is the trails more one way? Where you wouldn't have to worry about oncoming opposite traffic, and two, obviously not having been there, is it possible to get lost, or is the trails clearly marked enough to get back without the worry of, say, running out of gas, or daylight.?!
@dirttraxtv2 жыл бұрын
Trails are marked really well. Lots of signage. We haven't had any problems in the years we've gone. Sounds like you're gonna have great time.

i live in AZ and would like to go ride there but getting our ATVs there would be impossible. Are there any ATV rentals available anywhere along the southern trail systems of Hatfield and McCoy?
@dirttraxtv Жыл бұрын
Yes there are. In our most recent segment AJ and his family got rentals.

I've visited and lived in just about all the mountainous regions of the US. Because of this trail system and the national forests, parks, rivers and streams I feel I will eventually call this area home. Thankfully the wealthy metro people want 2nd homes and investment properties elsewhere.

Go to hatfield McCoy every year. Was able to ride warrior this year. It’s nice. Just a heads up if you are riding the connector from pinnacle creek at one point you will be riding on the road for 30 min or so to get to the trail head. It is marked decent from the connector to the trail head but pay attention it is not marked very well on the way back.

I'm looking forward to seeing what else the open up and or make, I think it's a great way to keep injecting revenue into your state! Nice job WV! I rode the Buffalo Mountain Trail system with my brother and his wife way back in 2013 and I loved it didn’t want to leave. We stayed in Matewan in one of Jeff Hatfield’s cabins which is right above his ATV shop and restaurant and had a Dollar General store beside us Matewan was a small town when we were there. My brother is wanting to go back there and maybe ride a different system. I’ll probably share this with him and his wife

Is there anyplace around Hatfield McCoy that rents atvs or sxs?

@@dirttraxtv There is a place in Williamson Southern west rentals WV near Buffalo Mountain, Gilbert you have Twin Hollow campground/Trail 12 BBQ/Mountain Top Rentals all the same place. They are all about the same in price so if you go over to Mountain top atv rentals or there Twin Hollow site they post the prices and they vary from type of machine and 1/2 day to all day to days. Krx and Talon the most and they get cheaper. Oh and most will trailer them to you but you have to be on Hatfield trails . Northern trails Ashland resort does now Crazy mountain cycles, and sorry do not know the rest off hand but there are more North and South trails.

Great video. I'm a West Virginia native and ride the trails often. Warrior is a great trail. They're more open and smooth. The Warrior trail however can all be covered in a day's ride. It doesn't take too long to cover all that Warrior has to offer. The great thing though is that all the trails close enough to each other that you can go ride a different trail system.

Love your stuff! Couple of things regarding warrior system though...it is more like Devil anse than any other trail system. The trails are much longer than pocahantas with a lot more elevation change...also, if you go off the side of a green trail on warrior, it isn’t going to be good (compared to pocahantas...which is by far the easiest of all the trail systems and the one most suited for kids or beginners). Indian ridge is a shell of its former self due to trail closures from mining. It’s nothing more than a mid point between pinnacle and pocahantas now. As noted, Ashland resort is there which is why many people still go there. Carry on!
@hkramer523 жыл бұрын
And Ziggys and the restaurant riders paradise. I thought Indian Ridge was logging but I wish it would come back I loved that one, i now stick to the Southern trails since I am right there. Did you know if you stay at Pocahontas ATV resort in Bramwell you have Hatfield trails 3.5 miles to Pocahontas and make a right out of the parking lot you have Virginia Spearhead trail Original Pocahontas only a couple miles down the road and you ca get just a day pass.
