So the term Loop used here does not imply beginning to end circle. Its used to describe the corkscrew of the track on the mountainsides where the track loops back over itself with high bridge. The elevation change from Georgetown to Silverplume is 640 feet. This was a revolutionary way to gain elevation for slick metal wheels on slick rail.

Great video again guys. As well as wanting to visit Yellowstone, I've always wanted to visit the Rockies. Probably because as a child I loved "Grizzly adams" and I'm in my 60s plus I live in the UK.

We were waiting for the train to pick us up at station. As it returned over bridge, some of the passengers car fell off track. No one hurt, but they had to walk walk back. Our trip was canceled.

It is NOT "most visited for" the Loop. That's a sideshow. Most people who visit Georgetown do not even bother with the Loop. And the Loop was NOT made for tourists! It was used to move mining and other materials to Silver Plume and beyond. It did NOT open the Rockies to sightseer's, who already could already traverse hundreds of miles of track into the Rockies.
