Sky News host Peta Credlin says the “hysteria” of the government’s attack on Opposition leader Peter Dutton is revealing amid debate over nuclear energy.
Ms Credlin’s remarks come after the Coalition unveiled its long-awaited nuclear energy policy, revealing plans to construct seven reactors in locations across Australia.
Ms Credlin questioned Labor’s statements on nuclear energy being dumb, uneconomic, unsafe, and would take too long.
“I reckon it’s now game on for the next election and that Dutton has given himself every chance to win,” she said.
“This government’s riding for a fall. Hypocrisy, thy name is Labor.”

T. Boone Pickens built a large windmill turbine farm stretching 40 miles from west of Abilene to east of Sweetwater, Texas along Interstate 20 forty years ago during the same time TXU built the 2.5 Gigawatts twin Comanche Peak nuclear power plant near Glen Rose, Texas some 50 miles southwest of Fort Worth on a site of around one square mile. The windmill turbine farm is being decommissioned, whereas Comanche Peak is still operating safely without any incident. Even the spent nuclear fuel rods are being stored safely on the Comanche Peak site first in pools for 15 years and then in casks. Pickens windmill turbine farm produced peak power whereas Comanche Peak produced base power. Without any doubt whatsoever, less land is used with nuclear power plants. As for the economic impact to Glen Rose, the school district parks their yellow school buses in a large garage, not a parking lot like almost every other school districts. Glen Rose is a rural community of less than 10 thousand residents, but the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is over 6 million residents. Surely Australia has similar communities as well near each other close to a source of water... Nor are there any 16 eyed frogs in Texas, so don't fear monger a cartoon...

Renewables are unfortunately increasing the energy system total cost, both by their demand for backup power, which also eats the CO2 emission reduction, and the need for a more expensive grid designed according to the maximum power when the renewables occasionally delivers. They had a perfect system in Norway, and clean. Additional power to the hydropower should be nuclear, I think. Nuclear is stable and weather independent, and the turbines have a large rotating mass hence nuclear plants helps stabilizing the frequency in the AC current. For Australia; keep running on coal and shift gradually to nuclear I would say. Peter Dutton is definitely on the right track; and the hypocrisy of PMA unable to publish costings for his renewables...but yet childishly berates others for not publishing what his costing are. Australians are not this stupid; we need to show this bloke the door, because his 'policies, costings and budget failings' will be passed on at the next election, and PMA will be on his tax funded retirement pension, for doing what exactly???

Breaking news, solar panels and wind farms are not technically "renewable." If renewable means landfill then i can understand where Labor are coming from.
@Aaronwhatnow
@Aaronwhatnow 6 күн бұрын
Renewables isn't about the technology used. It's about the source of the energy. Coal, and gas or oil are not Renewable (well not in the lifespan of the human race). Nice try but it's not an actual argument. Plus all the stuff you said can be recycled. The problem is profitability. They aren't profitable. A problem that we could easily overcome.

@Aaronwhatnow I am not arguing for coal oil or gas. Thanks for the strawman argument though.

@@Aaronwhatnow you know who uses coal oil and gas to create the wind and solar?
@Aaronwhatnow
@Aaronwhatnow 6 күн бұрын
@PsychoFanta I'm not saying you are. I'm giving you an example of non-renewable power sources. As you clearly don't know what one is. Nuclear is also a non-renewable power source. Solar and wind are renewable as they are constantly being created. The way we generate electricity from them doesn't make that fct not true. So your comment is just factual wrong. I hope you have enjoyed this troll. As that is what I hope you are doing👍🏻

The constant hysteria and my ignorance about nuclear power got me interested to do a bit of research about it, starting off with the mantra is was bad… Turns out I was completely wrong, the heck Australia is not using nuclear power and going down the solar/ wind path is absolute treason to Australians and our future.

There must be someone there in government who is getting a HUGE piece of the "renewables" pie. Electricity generators have to be constantly "renewed" with a constantly "renewed" price. A financial investigation into these chaps must be had, the will be a money trail. Guaranteed.

France seems to be doing very well on 72% of energy coming from nuclear power stations. Frances vulnerability comes from having to rely on uranium from abroad, notably from Africa. Australia can mine, refine its own fuel for Australian power stations.

Theres no policy, not even a plan and very little hysteria. Wheres the cost, whats the return, how much /kwh, whose paying for it, whose maintaining them, wheres the tonnes of waste going to be stored security for 1000 years and how will nuclear reactors in 2040 save on energy bills today. As Dutton would say, " theres no detail and Australians deserve answers".

Texas with over 30 million citizens has two twin nuclear power plants, one in north Texas and one in south Texas. While they don't supply all of the base power Texas requires, the two do provide around a quarter of the base load. Of course Texas has coal fired and natural gas power plants as well, not to mention large windmill turbine farms... I have seen all of the different types of plants decommissioned as they reach their end of life, but nuclear power plants which are built much more robustly like a large dam...

Albanese has backed Labor into a corner and has exposed his government as petty and immensely childish. Rather than enter into an intelligent debate they have acted like petulant school children. Nuclear is the answer that Labor is ignoring. Nuclear is called far too expensive by Labor while they refuse to disclose the full cost of renewables.
