The Simple-Earth Journey: Untamed

The Simple-Earth Journey: Untamed

Күн бұрын

Let's explore the various flower species found along our road. I'll start by describing the species I see, and share the little bit I know about its medicinal, toxic and other properties. Help me out by identifying some of the unknowns, if you can.
This is a relaxing ride that serves as a road patrol, and gives you an idea of what things look like. The hot, arid climate is a challenge for their seemingly delicate flowers and bushes, but they prevail, nevertheless.

Hi, this video is my favorite. I so love flowers. They just go on forever in your region. Every color imaginable.Love the Kapok bossie, looks so soft. The pretty clusters of the Cape Marigold and the Bloublommetjie, they seem to form carpets across the earth. Please do not stop making flower videos.😊

Yes sir. September 1st is spring day, but we've had some bitter cold fronts since. Late summer. It's good to see you, thanks for popping in

Thank you so much for the walkabout! I have never lived in an arid region, so seeing all of the beauty that grows right at the surface and in the shade is illuminating. I'm happy that you had the opportunity to take a break from your work and go exploring! And how fortunate we are that you could share with us. 😀 Is your dam still holding water? Has the gully below the dam continued to stay green? All the best wishes! 😊

You asked for a tour while it was still cool, and this is mostly your request Steve! Thanks for the good feedback. The dam's great and definitely holding the green downstream, better than before.

@@SimpleEarthSelfReliance It's funny that I don't remember asking - but thank you so much for following through! It is great content 👍 So happy to learn the dam is greening the land downstream as I hoped. Maybe that will be the wettest part of your desert oasis ♥

Such a beautiful drive, thank you for sharing. I love seeing the wildflowers in their native habitat 😍 and thank you for sharing some info on the edible plants. That’s something I’m really interested in learning more about. Where was this?

Thank you for the nice comment. I'm also happy to learn all the time about the plants and their traits. Fortunately so many of them. This is here on our farm in the arid Karoo, south Africa

Maybe Bergmagriet at 2:15? The little yellow one made me think of Canola, but the footage is not very clear. Also trying to learn about the plants of the Klein Karoo.

Mm, you're on to something there. Definitely one of the Magriets (Ursinia). The yellow one has a canola'ish look, minus the odour. 😄 Dankie vir die inloer!
