Tony, WD-40 isn't really a good lubricant. 'WD' actually stands for 'water displacement' and is more for loosening rusty parts (it not even that great at that compared to Gibbs or Kroil). You'd be better off using Tri-Flow oil or even better, grease it with Krytox GPL-202 and never have to touch it again!

@@floatwheel yeah.. wd40 acts a solvent and strips the oil/grease from the bearing. Need some good seals like badger used to make maybe? High quality bearings should run well for a long time

Agreed, WD40 is a very average product. Great product. I'm going to be building this fall and I'll be ordering for sure. Just one thing. Do not use wd40 it's literally fish oil, and attracts dirt. Bearings are greese packed and should be fine if they are quality bearings. Krk bearings have integral dust seals in them, as do most expensive sets. Adding oil of this type attracts more bad than iT does good, if you MUST use oil, then get chain oil from a bike shop, there are "wet" and "dry variants " wet is for mud, dry is dust conditions, these are statically charged with a negative charge ( wet ) that helps repel dust and mud as waTer is slightly negative in polarity. They dry variant used a different additive.. point is they are much better oils for this use, respectfully:)
