Tyres were 27.5 x 2.8 (bigger than was needed). Gearing was 11-50 cassette and a 28t chainring.

Stunning scenery and beautifully filmed and narrated! I'm glad I turned on the 4K HD viewing setting on my iMac for this one. Curious which pants you are wearing Mick. Looks like they say Marmot on the side - but which model? Look like great camp pants that could be ridden in. Knowing gear has to serve multiple functions on bike adventures, these seem like a great choice.
@MickTurnbullFilms7 күн бұрын
Cheers. Pants are Marmot scree pants (soft shell). They have tapered legs so good for riding in. I have used them in light rain too and they worked well.

@@MickTurnbullFilms great so well filmed and great story telling can i ask how long did it take to edit this film
@MickTurnbullFilms8 күн бұрын
Thanks heaps. Tricky question that because I would do a couple of hours after work a few nights a week and then a bit more focused on weekends. But probably between 60-80 hours. But that is 'quick' compared to the Annapurna one which took about 300 hours! I know how to use FCP better now. Selecting music takes a ridiculous amount of time too. Hope this answers your question.
@Bikepacking8 күн бұрын
@@MickTurnbullFilms great yeah i learning editing too .. and music does take time my goal is to edit using iPad Pro m4 and lumafusion used to use fcp but found lumafusion faster …. The hard bit for me is the colour grading but now using all camera same format ie d log m so it much easier ie drone camera etc
@MickTurnbullFilms8 күн бұрын
@@Bikepackingcolour grading is an art that I am still learning! I’ll have to check out lumagusion. Would be good to use an iPad when editing on the road.

@MickTurnbullFilms3 күн бұрын
Thanks. We went in July. Towns were fairly often. The best bits were the camps at altitude! Check out the route at the bottom of the article in this link bikepacking.com/plog/riding-high-bikepacking-peru-film/

@@MickTurnbullFilms no doubt the camping would be great, I’d be more than happy to sleep in a tent and great if it was a tent to tent ride with a shower etc I just don’t want to ride/ carry slug it out, the bike riding part would already be hard enough But thanks for the reply. And now going to watch a few more of your adventures for some great idea adventures cheers take care 🍻

Thanks. I set up a 'sound room' - fill in with mats, cushions etc. Then I just use the camera on a tripod and improve the audio in FCP.

Great video, I enjoyed it a lot! We've been traveling on bikes through Peru 10years ago, but not trails and offroads as you did, but some sceneries were familiar... Peru has amazing landscapes but in most of the places, the people were weird and not welcoming towards tourists - always "gringo" shouts. What was your experience with people?

Glad you enjoyed it! We actually on heard ‘gringo’ used a few times. Found people really great
