@Sdwr87 Thanks! Glad you like the video. The whining does seem tied to moving the ramp, so I would assume it's the hydraulic system. The growling is actually the flight crew talking over a loud speaker in the cabin. They run through the checklist in a very animated way, yelling it out. I wish it had come out clearer, listening to them is one of the best parts of the flight!

Great vid! I'm a HUGE fan of the Hercules aircraft in general and am adicted to watching Fat Albert clips! A few things I hope someone can clarify for me: 1. The whining sound that starts up at 00:36 - is that maybe the hydraulic systems "coming alive" for the ramp closure? 2. The same whining sounds mentioned above starts up again around the 02:33 mark. 3. What's up with the growling at 03:00-03:05?...it happens several times!

It is the auxiliary hydraulic pump. It's used for opening/closing the ramp and door. It's also used for emergency brakes and for lowering the nose landing gear if the normal (utility) system isn't working.
