Hey man, something I learned from my uncle who used to ride his bike a lot, is that when you stop in traffic it is best to stop at the side of the lane, next to a line if possible. If a car behind you isn't paying attention and rear ends you, the car will most likely miss you because you are at the side of the lane. You can also escape easily if there is a car in front of you. Just thought I'd share this, because you seem to be a really good and safe driver, and it might help you survive a crash one day:)

Depends what lane you're in and where your get-away path would be incase someone was going to rear-end you
@RyanKaufman
@RyanKaufman 5 ай бұрын
@@tas_araf Yeah, any side that allows you a path forward that isn't sandwiched to the car in front of you. One of the leading causes of fatalities with motorcycles is from rear end collisions at stop lights for exactly that reason, the guy behind you hits you and you sandwich to the guy in front, and your odds of death skyrocket when that happens for obvious reasons. Typically I prefer the lane side vs. the curb side, because if something happens it gives you more options to escape, and also I just don't like the curb being that close to me. But a lot of people like the curb better.

@@BobbysBikes you needa make sure you open up your bike once and a while, barley tapping the rev limiter on acceleration
@t-yu
@t-yu 2 жыл бұрын
@Sergeant_Ozzy Nah don't listen to that guy it's not too low lol you're good. I'm in a similar boat; as long as you're not chugging the engine, you're putting the least amount of wear on it while getting better gas mileage too. It's pretty universal advice that you should be shifting as soon as possible when you won't chug for maximum efficiency (besides when you're having more fun of course). Lots of points in the vid where you can tell the bike is begging to be up shifted. Nothing wrong with riding that way either, and it's fun to push it through the high revs, but obviously it'll just be louder and sitting at way higher revs than you'd expect for casual driving so there's a bit more wear (plus it might get obnoxious to others on the road lol). In the vid, you can see where 1st and 2nd gear get pushed to their full potential, but then the engine noise blueballs you because he has to slow down or can't accelerate more, and won't upshift for some reason. In those situations he hasn't gotten a third through his gears yet and is cruising at a deafening 30-40mph in 2nd gear, which as you said, he could be in 5th or 6th by then. It'd be fine if he were able to wring out the rest of the gears too, but it's just not all that efficient or satisfying (imo)in city traffic when you can't afford to do that. So if faced with those two options, it's better to gradually and smoothly use more of the gearbox than get bottlenecked like that. Lower CC bikes have more than enough power where you can comfortably cruise in 6th very early on without worrying about shifting too early! If you're not intentionally shifting at a specific RPM for some reason, listening to the engine and shifting intuitively is a great marker for when would be a good time.

@@BobbysBikes that's awesome! I'm in the same type of situation, plus I just prefer getting a new bike rather than getting a used one. Last question brotha! Did you buy it in full payment as soon as you got to the dealership, or did you finance it?
@BobbysBikes
@BobbysBikes 2 жыл бұрын
I was planning on buying it in full, which is why I bought a 400 since it’s a lot cheaper than a bigger bike. I qualified for 0% APR for 12 months so I ended up just putting half down and financing the rest so that I could just invest the rest in the meantime. I would recommend buying in full though if you could afford it.

I don’t really drive motorcycles for freeway or speeding like a fucking maniac. This guy gives me hopes of why motorcycling should be something we should respect but not to be afraid of. It’s important to drive safe and with normal speed. Im from a small town so I use it to cruise in and to go to my lil part time job, I fucking love that moment when I’m having a bad day and I get to drive it for a small 5-10 min to clear and get some peace of mind

Just bought my thirdhand bike and also I am a left handed person so I fined it a bit difficult and scary riding but I am getting a hang of it just like this guy. I don’t know hit to downshift and rev match I just go to the brakes and stop. Lining in the corners or coves is my most scary thing when riding.

I know nothing about bikes but am interested in having one in the future, so be kind… but at stoplights, is it ok to hold the clutch and stay in first? In a manual transmission car it’s said that you should just wait in neutral to not put unnecessary pressure and wear on the clutch.
@BobbysBikes
@BobbysBikes 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve always stayed in first at stop lights just so I can take off quicker and in the scenario someone behind me doesn’t stop in time I can react quicker. It’s generally agreed as the safer option. From what I understand, since you are holding in the clutch lever, the clutch is not engaged so there is not additional wear. Holding in the clutch is essentially the same as staying in neutral.

@BobbysBikes
@BobbysBikes 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve had no problems with it. I have a disk brake lock from kryptonite that I use when I park for long periods of time, but usually don’t use it. The ninja has a steering lock so you cannot move the bars when it is locked, making it a lot more annoying to roll away with 😅

Man I wish I would’ve gotten this over my CBR300r. Then again I’ve never ridden a bike before so a little Rebel 300 probably would’ve been the easier choice either way, having a hard time starting on a sports bike as a smaller built 5’6 guy
@BobbysBikes
@BobbysBikes 2 жыл бұрын
CBR300r was my first bike too! You don’t need to be able to flat foot the bike to become comfortable on it. At stops, keep your right foot on the rear brake and only put down your left. Should make it more comfortable and at 5’6 it should be doable.
