Anyone on here know how often I should change my brake pads on a 636? I've had the bike for 2 years put about 18,000 miles on it and my front pads still feel and look good but the back brake is a little spongy but from what I can tell from looking at them without taking them apart they look okay.

It's obvious you have a wonderful subscriber base with really informative and helpful advice. I think people don't seem to understand sport bikes have some pretty intense engine braking and you don't really need to use your brakes all that often so the mileage alone really doesn't mean that brakes should be changed. But I understand when you lack knowledge it is easier to insult then try to be helpful and give real advice. Edit: Since asking this question I have learned that if you take a nickel and put it on your rotor and the meat of the pad is less than the thickness of the nickel you should change your pads. BTW, mine are still quite a bit thicker than a nickel so even though I am very grateful for all of the wonderful advice I am glad I did not follow it or I would have been changing pads for no reason. The nickel thing was the type of advice I was looking for but it's okay if you didn't know that I didn't either at the time but it is quite pathetic I must say to try to shame somebody for not knowing something that you yourself did not know either.
