John, I used to sell equipment to the tire industry and was in different tire plants nationwide. the bad smell you are experiencing is called "outgassing". Outgassing is part of the curing process, and depending on where you got your tires from (other than the US) some different chemical compounds could be used, making the curing process different or longer to outgas the chemicals used. So, there is a process called "Sunning" which basically means leaving your tires out in the sun for several days to speed up the outgassing process, (which can make you sick). Once done... After “sunning” the rubber (which the odor should be dramatically less or almost non-existent), use a neutral pH cleaner to spray, let soak, then wipe the rubber surface. Types of neutral pH cleaners: dish soap, odor ban, Zep, etc., and if you want, some fruity scents, use orange glow. hope this helps with the smell.

This outgassing process happens with vinyl products like shower curtain liners, treated wood and synthetic furniture, carpets, treated lumber, even shoes. Used to be STRONG from vinyl toys when I was a kid.

I have lived in the south bay for ~8 years now. I am a hs student around there and am friends with a lot of ppl who ride surrons. Things have gotten weird, like my hs is requiring us to have our ebikes certified (which sucks cus mines still illegal) only because sum a couple kids did. I also got slapped with a $250 ticket for a bs reason, and the cop was down there everyday bringing in easy money for the pd last year. It rlly depends on the cop u run into on what happens. The guy I ran into was clueless and an arrogant ass, whereas the cop that caught my friend on his surron told him to js chill and no one should bother him.

I live in southbay, in the hermosa / redondo beach area, no e bike ban, was just there. no problems. rode the e-ride to Venice beach on Sunday and rode by multiple sherifs and beach police. if you being cool and ride with respect to others you will be under the radar.

CST tyres are nylon, plastic. More durable and less prone to flats. I prefer them, for road riding. Expensive tyres lose tread more faster. I got a supplier that sells me a set for 68, well worth it
