Well done. I love the beauty of dressage. I had the privilege of attending 2 yearly riding seminars given by Swedish Baron Hans von Blixen-Finecke Jr (won Olympic gold in 1952 Olympics) when he came to the United States in 1999 and 2000 (if I remember correctly ). At the time he was in his early 80’s. He sat wrapped up in warm clothes and a blanket in the drafty arena watching each individual rider/horse and shared his vast experience for improvement over a microphone. Once when the rider couldn’t get the horse to move correctly off her leg, he got up, slowly walked to the horse and requested help mounting. I was thrilled to watch him school this horse while at the same time see how the years just fell off him as he got in the saddle. It was something I won’t forget. He passed away in 2005 at the age of 88.

I have a child that tried to make the olympic equestrian for a number of years. I was around a lot of dressage competition riders with olympic riders and future olympic riders and you look every bit as good as them......none of them rode friesians which for me makes this video especially beautiful.....you two are a wonderful to watch. thank you for this video today.

My heart was actually starting to race as I watched Reintje read your "intention," Yvonne, every step of the way. Her best matched your best and I am not surprised that you are superior dressage winners--having worked, trained and practiced so methodically in building on initial talent and Friesian horse breed nobility. I'm kinda curious as to what the policy is on using zoom on one's camera for filming the routines is. Like, have two cameras set up, one for filming in the manner demonstrated, and the other to track the horse/rider zooming in as needed. Then put the videos aide by side and send in. It would probably be interesting to try and set up, but it would make it far easier on the judges. Might be expensive at the outset for the cameras, but you no longer have the expense of gas to worry about, so it kinda balances out. :)

That was an absolute joy to watch. So happy for you, Yvonne. Reintje performed magnificently. Where do you feel you can improve? (Just curious) I can’t imagine the training and trust that must be shared between a horse and its trainer/rider to perform this way. I will definitely watch this again. It was so funny to see Johnny “congratulating” Reintje, upon her return to the stall @ 7:24 and Frieda giving him the side-eye @ 7:34. Something tells me Johnny is going to have to make up a good explanation about that little incident. That pretty boy is wild.

What a great team! All of you, Yvonne, Geertje and Rinske helped Reintje perform beautifully. I imagine some horse perform better at home because it's calmer, but some horses like the excitement of a reality competition and can show off? I bet Uniek loves to show off. Now I will go to older videos to find one with Uniek!

I also rescued....adopted a friesian that needed a home....I might suggest spending a lot of time doing what Linda suggest and also brush your horse a lot...rub your horse....talk to it....those things worked for me very well....I spent a lot of time walking next to it and leading it by hand
