Hi Daniel, Sorry to make you rage.... Some of that was editing... Truth is, this is a very protected marina. They have endured much worse hurricanes in recent years... Florence, Michael, Dorian, Irma and did well. We never felt unsafe. We did have several contingency plans to leave if we needed to. There was no damage to any boats in the marina... Not even canvas damage. Also, We both work and have employer obligations. It's not easy to get time off on short notice but we will both be unemployed this December as we plan to start heading south. Thanks for all your help! would you mind sending that link again? I saw it pop up and then it disappeared.... No idea what happened to it. Looked like a weather app. Corey

Thank you! We think we found the original company in Italy… I’m not sure if it’s the exact part, the pictures look close. I will contact them but there is a language barrier. 🥴

I'm glad you were not badly hit by the hurricane. Honestly, I did not have a great feeling about your preparedness. For example, besides having your sail bag still out there, there was all sorts of plastic still hanging in the cockpit. Perhaps you knew that the storm was downgraded from a category 4 to a 1? Anyway, I have seen another sailing channel make a list of what they would need to do in order to prepare for a hurricane, and that sounds like an excellent plan. Actually, after all that planning, one of them had to get through a hurricane single handedly and was thankful for the forethought. I am glad you were all safe!

Thank you! Yes, we knew it was a Cat1. We learned a lot from this experience and there are many things that I would do differently. If it was a cat2 or above we would be trying to evacuate the boat to a different area… If we couldn’t evacuate we would strip everything.

I never thought of it couldn't you put the dingy under the deck? To keep rain out and for safe keeping. You'd have to rig a line or 2 under the boat to bow to pull forward

Hi Tom, That’s a good idea. I will absolutely do that next time! Corey

Did you fill the fuel filter housing? Then crack open each injector and crank the motor until fuel leaks out. Then tighten each injector nut.
@SaltyEscape
@SaltyEscape 2 жыл бұрын
Yes to all but I couldn’t get adequate leakage of fuel at the injectors before the battery became too weak. So, it’s charged back up now, I’m going to work on it again in a day or so.

@@SaltyEscape With power a lot can be achieved😆. I don't know if you had the raw water shut off while you cranked it, but the pump still pumps and can fill up the exhaust getting back into the cylinders. What brand is it? (I'm a diesel/gen guy)
@SaltyEscape
@SaltyEscape 2 жыл бұрын
It is a Westerbeke diesel generator. I actually did have the raw water shut off at first… I didn’t crank it for long, and I remembered I needed to prime the strainer. It’s been a few days now… Do you think I’m safe to try it again or have I done damage?
@gcrauwels941
@gcrauwels941 2 жыл бұрын
@@SaltyEscape You can check to see if there's been water in the cylinders in several ways, but if you didn't crank it too long and it's not seized now it may be one of the following. Check preheaters for power/fuel solenoid energize during 'preheat'. Do this with fully charged battery. Make sure fuel system is bled. Crack open an injector feed during crank to see if there's delivery (fuel solenoid energized).

Could you not track it with your onboard radar?

Hmmm I’m not sure. Probably… We still have to learn how to use and read the radar display.
