I had an 85 miss and loved it. Friend had a 700 felt just as fast as it but was 100lb lighter.

Hey I'm a new subscriber, love the channel and the camping videos. Was this bike reliable? I found an 84 model for 500 dollars, it runs but needs the gas tank cleaned. I was wondering if it's a good deal or not, it's only got 13k miles on it.

OhhFree this interceptor was/is awesome. its reliable but its biggest problem is a leaking clutch slave cylinder. the housing that the piston fits into is worn causing hydraulic fluid to leak out, which causes the clutch to stop working. i had to carry brake fluid with me. other than that it was solid and sounded awesome too. id say get it.

that should be a pretty easy fix for you, just buy a rebuild kit off of ebay and replace the seals and piston and/or get a used one, there were dozens of hondas that used that same slave cylinder piston. There are a bunch of used ones on ebay if yours isn't fixable. www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Honda/Motorcycle/1986/VF500F+A/LEFT+CRANKCASE+COVER+%2B+WATER+PUMP/parts.html www.ebay.com/itm/1985-HONDA-VF500F-INTERCEPTOR-CLUTCH-SLAVE-CYLINDER-W-SPROCKET-COVER-/302158930071?hash=item465a136097:g:p8kAAOSw4GVYRvE5&vxp=mtr

JAY ROD ive "rebuilt" it with every new part available. the part that i need is the black housing pictured in that ebay link. i haven't tried a used one yet because i dont have the bike right now.
@jrodrims277 жыл бұрын
alright man, the good thing is you'll find plenty of used ones still out there when you're ready to fix that.

@@FridaysTheBomb Illinois is definitely on my bucketlist of places to drive & ride. I'm used to city and mountain riding from the places I've lived.

Haha thats funny to hear. The riders in illinois are bored with the straight roads, and ride for hours to find a curvy road. One advantage is, you can hit some pretty high speeds on a sportbike out there. Oh, the exhaust sytem is vance and hines.

@@tkking188 I had an '84 and an '86 and they would both reach an indicated 130. Probably 120-125 in real speed.

Interesting? My first street bike.After 35 years and 43 bikes, THAT was the best bike I had.Perfect all alrounder, reliable, enough horsepower, razor sharp handling, torque from bottom, brakes, weight,looks, had everything.Fool to sell it after 1.5 years and 58000 km later for GPZ600.Good bike too.Smart enough to have , now, in my garage 2 of them.Also a GPZ 600.No, they don't make them like that today, they will never make them again.Real bikes are gone.
