Every year this stuff gets crazier and crazier. When is enough. When someone dies. I use to ride insane downhill courses here in Canada until I hit a 30ft drop both my brand new wheels collapsed on landing my bike bucked me off and ended up doing a front flip and my back smashed a huge Boulder that was off to the right of the trail and I broke both my shoulders. Was in an upper body cast for 4 months. I went back to riding after 2 years and now keep it on the down low. Because I have a new lease on life. Even still to this day I have flashbacks. After 14 years.
@evanjones60913 жыл бұрын
I gotta agree to some extent. It seems like the course this year is pushing the limits. Sorry to hear about your accident. Trauma is a bitch so I'm glad to hear you are back on two wheels. That said. Humans like to progress in every sport just to see what is possible. So long as there is no pressure for these guys to compete if they don't want to then I'm ok with them riding off a cliff.
@jamiealite3 жыл бұрын
@@evanjones6091 thanks. I agree there is some guys with no limits. I have a friend that just completed an 85ft drop in montreal Quebec he stuck the landing and I couldn’t believe it. Even some of these pros like max frederickson he’s insane. Even hitting a 70ft gap over a clif at red bull rampage . That’s a little to crazy
@GeddyRC3 жыл бұрын
Yeah man I agree with this top comment. These guys basically have to do whatever crazy shit they put together if they want to keep their sponsorship(s) and get paid. When you do everything right but still the BIKE has to be in peak physical condition or you'll die, things are a getting a little stupid.
@jamiealite3 жыл бұрын
@@GeddyRC even watching rampage them 70ft gaps over a 100+foot death drop it’s a little much

We used to ride hardtails on the original trails in Golden maybe 15 years ago now. In hindsight, can't believe we are all still alive. The trail to beaverhead summit has some of the steepest downs I've found anywhere, ever. I'm like you now man. Bad crash a few years ago. I dialed it way back. Love that when push comes to shove and tracks are built like this, Bernard truly shines above the rest. You've got World Cup races, you've got Loose Fest jumps... But once you put them together the top in both those categories fade away and Bernard is left standing as one of the most well rounded riders in the world.

Oh I'm so glad Jono came back from that nasty landing, I was really happy to hear him having fun again after that shot to his morale, I know this must mean a lot to him
@shaunmilor3 жыл бұрын
I love big jumps ,I have a downhill bmx track at my house I built after the x games in 2001. It has some 30-40 ft doubles and stepdowns. Its grassed over now and the jump size blows my 36 year old mind that I was on that level... That being said, I'm scared for the riders at this comp with the big jumps with no margin for error near trees or cliffs. like the roadgap and flying off of that berm. wish redbull would put up a few catch fences. just by those big hits. Love watching you guys go big and don't want anyone paralyzed.. weve lost so many guys to stupid accidents...man I miss getting air

Cool. I was sending and clearing 15 foot gap jumps at 7 feet high in the air, after 3 weeks of first getting on a mountain bike at age 49. I'd never ridden a mountain bike before in my life. I practiced for six hours a day, six days a week down fast Enduro red-black trails, dirt jumps, hip right and left jumps, shark fin jumps. Smashed myself up, bucked over the bars, came off Umpteen times. Pulled out of the hedge by my caterpillar boots by my wife, lol. On a 100 mill travel hardtail, with 29 inch wheels. The expert mtbikers (very annoyed 25 years younger than me) dudes said "Alexander you went full on hardcore balls to the wall at it, and was jumping and riding at a level in 3 weeks, what takes most mtbikers one year to 18 months master." I thought to myself "That's the beauty of Adhd dude, it gives you loads of confidence, he who dares wins." I was also told I should turn professional. I can't see it though now at age 50. But I did buy myself a Specialized Status 160 full suspension Enduro bike. Well done dudes. Great video. Thanks. God bless you.
