MARTA is just as old as DC metro. MARTA started its rail service in the 70s around the same time as DC's Metro and SF BART.

no, my favorite part happens 50 seconds into the video... flying over I-85. it's a nostalgic feeling to hear the MARTA sounds after only riding 5 times this year. {tear} :(

They need to put on automated voices on the trains like they do in Chicago. It was loud, precise, and I never got confused on what to take, even though it was my first time there. This guy you can barely hear him.

According to APTA, DC Metro carries more than 3 times weekday riders than SEPTA. So in the aspect of ridership, there is a lot more MASS in transit on DC Metro than SEPTA. MARTA has new technology/trains, etc because of the GA laws that set up its funding.

@bcunni I know I remember when they first put the new trains with tvs streaming news 24/7 on each railcar then 3 years later I come back and they're on captions. WTF. They also halted the proposed 1970 expansions to emory, hapeville, and perry holmes. As well as original 1960 proposals to Marietta, Gwinnett County past doraville, and South of the airport, and east of H.E. Holmes as there are provisions for each of these expansions if they were every to go underway.

I feel the same way, I liked if when they streamed CNN 24/7, and weather news on the buses it was literally the golden age of Marta and set it apart from other cities. I wanna see this back or I'm moving that simple.

@chrisz71Oh there are automated voices on every train and they're supposed to run for every station, I will be heavily complain to their board for the reduced quality next time if I ever move back. It's just he current management ruining an already established subway system. It used to be perfect in the late 90s, a true model for most subways should compete for as far as quality and efficiency. I know this cause I used to be a resident during that time.

its like this for every us city with subways, people ignorantly being influence by politics blabbing the costs to taxpayers. They don't care about us, so why would they promote services that governments spend to "progress & benefit" the people as a whole and reduce government "pork & entitlement" spending. And I applaud organizations that are doing right, cause so many are run poorly in the US. Go to Europe, China, watch their transit videos, cities with diverse options. Lead by example.

@tkandme3 are you serious? DC metro is far and above anything to do with septa. MARTA is no slouch either. I mean seriously, its cool to have pride in your city, but cmon...give credit where its due. To say that DC and MARTA arent considered mass transit is beyond ridiculous, its basically insane.
@tkandme315 жыл бұрын
Oh, no. DC Metro is quite old and crippled. Very boring and not even considered a mass transit system by most people. Nor is MARTA, come to think of it. Their stuff is crappy and not taken care of. Cheap, too. Try SEPTA. They're always getting the newest technology and have always been the best in High speed rail in the country.
