Thx for posting this it took one run for me to never look back. I got a weaker shimano motor and still love it.

Thanks for thr video, you're ripping! I'm about to buy the Meta Power TR, seems more built for the ups and downs I have locally, not many long DH runs around here. Any clunking out of the EP8?

The Meta Power TR looks great. Definitely a good choice. Regarding the EP8, the noise is there when going down. It’s not too loud though. It will be there on any bike that had the Shimano EP8. For me, the motor is so good that the noise is not a big deal. But I’ll record a video just about the rattling noise to show you exactly what it is.

Fun, FAST downhill trail there, the Meta Power looks a beast eating that up, looks right at home. Thanks for sharing your early footage and feelings about the bike, have been looking at the 29 and the 27 SX Good commentary doing the climb and appreciated seeing that small singletrack section too, looked harder to move the bike and getting the timing right - did you feel that the big wheels + weight affected riding singletrack? Look forward to more footage

Hey Stuart, thanks for the comment man. I'm uploading a lot more riding on the bike soon. The 29 wheels are amazing. I've always had 27.5, and with 29 you go through rocks, roots and holes much faster. Even on single tracks. Unless the single track is extremely tight, it shouldn't be a problem. I would go for the 29 for sure!

Hey, the dates are fairly accurate. Mine was advertised by mid December but it actually arrived earlier. The green in the video is the one I have, but they now have a sand/dirt colour instead and no green models.

Great Video, thank you :) Wich frame size is yours and how tall are you? I'm also looking for a meta power but I don't know wich frame size I should choose and if I should choose the 29 or the 27.5 sx. Im 1.69m and i think frame size "Small" would be ok for me because of the reach. My actual bike has a reach of 410mm and I'm glad with this reach. So it should not be not much wider than this.

Hey Andre, this is a medium size and fits perfectly for me both for uphill and downhill. I have regular reach and I'm 1.74m. I think medium would fit you fine.

Man I love your video, but my question is i understand most ebikes are heavy but did it affect your riding in comparison with a carbon trail bike? sorry I know it may be a silly question.

Hey Michael, thanks! This bike is 24kg. To give you an idea, my downhill bike is 16kg. After using it for several rides, I can tell you that the only way that the weight will affect you is when putting your e-bike in your pickup truck or rack haha. There is no negative effect going uphill whatsoever because of the motor assistance. When going downhill, actually the weight helps. Carbon is good for regular bikes (if you're a carbon person). But I don't see the point of spending a lot more on a carbon e-bike if you have a motor.

I've be using my essential for 1 month and I love the bike. I did change some parts though. The wheels are centrelock DT Swiss rims on formula hubs. Personally I hate centrelock wheels, so I switched them for hope fortus 35W. The standard stem felt too long and the bike felt way better with a 35mm stem. The team bike looks better but I couldn't justify the price difference. The fork and shock are both fantastic. I've been running a fox 36 for the past year and I'm hugely impressed with this 38. I'd go essential. Just consider the centrelock wheels.

Thanks so much for the insight. Heard you could easily drop the grip 2 dampner in to the fox 38's if the regular was not good enough for you? Seems like the essential model really is a great value.

@@Brian-xplor278 Yeah it's a fairly easy upgrade. So far I've been hammering it in awful winter conditions in the UK and I've been impressed so far. No issues with bottoming out easily and the small bump response is very good too. The only thing I was disappointed with was the dropper post. It's a basic KS and the cable isn't hooked into the bottom of the post, so if you move the seatpost, it can dislodge the cable and you may have to remove the battery to get to it. The new shimano 4mm hex key release system for the battery is super flimsy too. My LBS managed to break mine off just by turning it 90 degrees the opposite way.

E-MTBs are the worst. Learn to ride a bike up a hill, build muscle and learn to choose your line up steep technical sections. Your cardio system will thank you too. Zero challenge riding one of these.
