What’s up KZbin?! In today’s video, we do normal sawing fashion, plus at the end, I strap the camera to the carriage arm! It’s a good change of viewpoint. Please like the video and subscribe to the channel. I hope you enjoy today’s video!

It’s good to try new views however, personally…..I think the first camera setup in the video is the best.

I like the camera mount position in this one. Shows a lot and stays focused on the important parts.

Crazy wild video with the go-pro attached to the swing arm. Reminds me of yesteryear riding the carriage doing the dogging and the setting. Whoever invented the vertical edger and the slabber should be given medals. I remember when I was 14 yrs old and running a board edger in a mill here in British Columbia.

Great video. Mounting on the swing arm gave some unique perspectives that you normally wouldn't see but it comes with the predictable jittery, motion sickness aspects. 😂😂

Nice sawing! Do the oak ties pay you more than some of the lighter weight hardwoods...ie: gum, sycamore, poplar, etc.?

Yes! They like the oak ties the best. Either red or white

I understand the large cross-tie cants but what were the large cants at the end of the first log -- will they be resawed elsewhere at your mill for dimensional lumber. Great videos by the way................

Yes they will be re-sawn into pallet lumber! Right now markets suck. And if it’s poplar and FAC or FIC, I’m thinking cants, since cants are paying more then 1C lumber

@@Helmsburgsawmill Many thanks. Several years ago I did banking business with Dan Stillions south of Bloomington and I remember that he made lots of ties and pallet materials.

Why do you go all the way back to the log turner when you are not turning the log?
@Helmsburgsawmill
@Helmsburgsawmill 8 ай бұрын
Good question. I have to bring the log far enough back to catch the edger’s laster light so I know where to set it

Why do you run the edgers on the off cuts or slab wood?
@Helmsburgsawmill
@Helmsburgsawmill 8 ай бұрын
Splitting the edging strips makes it easier for our grinder to digest them. And once I have my final block that I don’t use the edger on, it’s only alive for a couple seconds. The edgers wouldn’t even be halfway done spinning by the time i needed to use them again

I’m glad you’re trying but the carnage mount was not great maybe if it was not on the pivot arm
